Disappointed in Eastern NC

My experience may have been an anonmoly. But would say run the other way. Ms. Ferrier, initially shows compassion towards her clients and expresses confidence and is quick to profess execptional abilities and skills. What I found during the progress, or lack there of, that she is unorganized, unprod...uctive with hours of performance, untimely in her filings of required documents. I routinely had to complete my own documents, sometimes even create the complete filings or responses from a template that she would send. When I received the final documents, she made little if any changes. It seemed her greatest effort was to sign them. On several occassions she never file initial or response documents at all. I constantly had to stay on top of submission items and dates after she missed several at the beginning of the process, always due to personal issues or staffing problems. I would even have to drive to me her to pick up the documents and go to courthouse file and pay for them myself. She had extraordinary staff turnover, professing serval times that they were stealing and sending client information to opponent lawyers. I had to get a new lawyer and then she billed me an additional $4,000 for services after paying an initial $6500. Ms. Ferrier, although intelligent, seemingly is challenged with responsible behaviors to her clients. She is not respected by Judges courtroom personnel, and local lawyers. She is maybe a great rrpresentative for uncontested divorces, or custody...but in my case she was a poor performer and I changed lawyers in just the nick of time. Good Luck.

Terrible experience

I met with Ms. Ferrier and let her know what my situation was. She was very reassuring at first and gave me a ‘flat fee’ that she said she charged whether a divorce was uncontested or not. Once I had been filed against I paid her the fee and assumed that she was going to begin working for me. From... day one, the entire thing was just her responding to the other party. She let the other attorney run the show. When I tried to call or sent emails with documentation, response was very slow or not at all. Her office staff was very unprofessional and looked like they had been hired off the drug offender list. Long after the process started she had not asked for any discovery from the other attorney and I finally asked to see her so I could get an idea of what was going on she let me vent about the situation then charged me and still didn’t clarify what the plan was. I had concrete evidence that my ex was attempting to hide assets and she blew it off and never followed up. The situation dragged on and I started getting bills for more money and we hadn’t even done anything yet. I had begun to look for another attorney and was willing to spend more money and I had to threaten to fire her in order to get any concrete answers out of her and then my ex and I figured out our property division on our own so we basically did her job for her, although had she done her job right from the beginning I would probably have gotten quite a bit more. In the end I would have spent more trying to get another attorney and time in court. She also never did the paperwork to change my name even though I asked her to do so from the beginning. I did not feel that she represented my interests at all or that she was working for me and was considering making a complaint against her. She caused me more stress and distress than the actual divorce which should NEVER be the case.

Very Unprofessional

I was in a scary situation and needed a divorce and child custody taken care of. She seemed knowledgeable enough, so I paid the fee. Her office staff was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and most of the time had no clue about anything concerning my case when I would call. Instead, I had to physically... come in for answers. She changed out office staff (completely) 2 or 3 times while I was her client, so that increased the confusion. At one point, I called to ask a question, and they said (1) I had court the next day, but they forgot to tell me, and (2) that they had told Ms. Ferrier that I had reconciled with my ex, which I have no idea where that came from. I had to drop everything and get to court the next morning to find her and tell her myself that this was some mistake. She often took vacations and would put off paperwork, unless I showed up and did it myself, and she told me to call her staff while she was gone and tell them to do their job, finish my paperwork, or I would call her cell phone (which was an empty threat, since I didn't have her number), but I did not do that, because I did not feel comfortable. When the year separation was up, and my divorce was finally allowed to be proceeded with, I paid the fee again. There was no additional things done, she did not extra work, in fact she did less because I ended up mediating with my ex and ending the whole thing with a signature. In fact, when it came to the mediation, and custody agreement, being someone who is extremely unfamiliar with type of situation, I asked for her help in writing it up, (What are the states usual visitation, depending on age, etc) and she said "Whatever you want, there is no normal," and that's all she would give me. Unfortunately, right after it was finalized, I got a bill for $98. I didn't ask for anything extra, extra time, extra work, extra anything. I called and asked what it was for, and cannot get a response, and now, a year later, I have received a bill that says I owe her over $300, (for what??) and they will sue in a week. Throughout the course of that year of having her as my attorney, I was told countless times that I should do something about her being unprofessional, however, it was hard enough getting anything done, and I was on a time constraint, and I was afraid of complaining and then her not getting anything done at all. Please do NOT waste your money. Don't make the same mistake I made. I am not stuck with an incredibly vague custody agreement, and a huge bill for nothing.

Truly cares for her clients and their cases!

My wife and I met with Kimberly Ferrier last year to speak about seeking custody of my child, in which my wife has cared for as her own. Speaking to Kimberly for the first time you just get a sense that she is passionate about her job and truly cares for her clients. We attained her that day. Any que...stions or concerns were quickly answered by her staff or herself thru ought the last year. With court approaching, Kimberly told me everything she needed, which we provided to her. She picked up on things that I wouldn't have thought to be a big deal and showed me that even the smallest things matter. While in court, she payed close attention to all witnesses and picked up on little differences in testimonies. It was this attention and care that won my case. After a half a day in court I walked out knowing that there would be no problems taking my child when we move with with my wife's job and that he will remain in our loving nurturing environment. I can't imagine the heartbreak we would be feeling today had we not found such an amazing, caring lawyer that truly fought for what is right. If anything problems arise in the future I would seek council from her again. I would also recommend anyone to her and her practice.

Divorse/child support/custody

I went to Ms Ferrier when I was served papers for child support. Ms. Ferrier and her office manager Ms. Debbie welcomed me in the office with open arms. They both was so friendly. After about a hour to hour half of sitting down and talking to Ms. Ferrier about the whole child support, divorce, custod...y and all. she gave me a price. The price is great for the amount of work she puts in to your case. O not to metion my case was not local so we have to travel. For her to travel it did cost me a little extra, but hey she need to pay for gas. On my second time speaking with Ms Ferrier was the day that I retained her to be my lawyer. I am one of them type that i don't bother someone inless I need too. The few times I called and ask for a call back she got back with me. She is not one of them 8- 5 lawyers. She works al the tim. She will call you back. Not only has she helpo me with my case she has gone way out and beyond her service for me and all her clients. I promise she is the best in area and would best in any area she goes to. She will handle your case with the out must respect and care, plus she won't tell any thing you would like to hear she tell you stright up and the truth. Because she cares about you and don't want you to hurt any more then you are already and don't want you to be let down if something happens. She stright up told me when i asked to do 100% custody for me. She said NO, because I can't promise you that you will get 100% wit would be a 50/50 chance. Thanks MsFerrier not only do I but my family who is supoorting me love your service you are giving me.
