Review

I hired him because I seen Mr. Sullivan on mtv. I was told that I was not looking at no probation time, no jail time nothing of that matter. That I would just have to pay court cost and when I got to court I was completely blindsided. I had to do a certain amount of days in jail and ended up wi...th two years of supervised probation. I do not feel that he did everything that he could have done to help me in this situation. I hired him to help me I could have got a court appointed attorney for a lot less and I got thrown under the bus.

Mr. Williams had 2 sets of charges. The first was Driving While License Revoked, Resist/Delay/Obstruct, Child Abuse, Possession Schedule II, and Possession of Schedule IV. The second was Driving While License Revoked, Left of Center, and Failure to Maintain Lane Control. At no time did I guarantee any results. I informed him that the maximum penalty was 150 days for the child abuse and 120 days for the Driving While License Revoked (total of 270 days). I told him that I would try to get unsupervised probation (which would include paying court cost and fine and commit no new offenses during the course of that probation), but in no way did I guarantee that result. Attorneys are not allowed to guarantee results. We plead to one count of child abuse and one count of No Operators License (a reduction on the DWLR). The other 6 charges were dismissed. Unfortunately my request for unsupervised probation was denied due to Mr. Williams' extensive criminal history (which was not fully disclosed to me by Mr. Williams). At the end of the day, the Judge has discretion to sentence as he or she feels appropriate and he gave Mr. Williams 24 months of supervised probation and a 30 day split of jail time. This case was handled on February 5, 2015 and there were no complaints (I had spoken to Mr. Williams a few times in the last year). He called me this past Friday (March 25, 2016) to ask if we could have his probation modified. I told him that I strongly doubt the Judge would modify his probation and it was not until after that that Mr. Williams decided to leave me a poor review. All of my other reviews have been 5 stars. I zealously advocate for all of my clients and put forth full efforts in every case. Unfortunately some cases do not go according to plan based on various factors. Mr. Williams results in this case were based on his charges and his extensive record, not due to an issue with my representation.

Traffic indiscretions

I hired Steven on multiple occasions to take care of traffic, speeding, and criminal offenses. Truly a lawyer that can be counted on. Remained professional at all time, personally returned phone calls, and was successful in reducing all punishments I received. I have already referred people I know to... Steve and I will continue to do so.

Emotional Driver

I have used Mr. Laird 3 times in my life. Each time he made me feel legal prepared and covered. 1 out of 3 was for my spouse and they were all ticket situations. Going into each situation me nor my spouse had ever been in any type of legal situations. I was very mind easing to know we had someone who... would be honest and cost effective on our side. I hope that we never have any legal situations however if so it's nice to know that we have Steven Laird to represent us. Thanks So much for the amazing team of Steven Laird!!!

Just As He Said

Mr. Laird was prompt in responding to my request for information and a quote. He was direct with the information I requested and performed the service sooner than I had expected. There was no need to check behind him, he informed me when the matter was resolved and that the outcome was just as he i...ntended. I am thankful for both his efficiency and professionalism. I would highly recommend his services. Josh Speeding in Onslow County

Reasonable and attentive

Steve was hired for a false claim against me in the midst of a bitter divorce with an abusive and vindictive ex, who was trying to continue to harass and abuse using the court system. Steve charged a reasonable fee, commiserate with the fairly low amount of work involved in the matter I hired him to... defend. He also worked with us in making the payment. I already was using the firm for my divorce and custody. Steve listened to the whole situation, even the parts that weren't really relevant to the case at hand. He handled the charge well, was very calm and collected, and really showed the absurdity of the charge. Ultimately we did receive a not guilty verdict.
