Samuel S. Popkin

I hired Popkins after a traffic incident in Onslow Co. while stationed at Camp Lejeune. At first he seemed eager and very easy to work with. I paid him in full to handle the case. Prior to our actual trial date I received military orders to Iraq. I spoke with him about my deployment and my case mult...iple times and was told I would not have to appear in court that he would have it all handled. After completing my deployment I found out years later that nothing had been handled and I had a registration block. I've tried contacting him multiple times over this and am ignored. However, because he took my money and assigned himself to the case it can not move forward without him. He should be disbarred and incarcerated.

If I could rate this rate this "Lawyer" any lower I would. He is the sorriest excuse for a public defender you could ever think of. He does NOT care about you, or what happens to your case, and is only doing this for money. For reference Popkin has my case file for over a YEAR and in our 5th court ap...pearance he asked me why I was there, what my name is, and mentioned that he hadn't opened my file since he received it. I reached out to him on numerus occasions and he refused to respond. It took me causing a scene in his law firm office for him to update me on my case. If you are stuck in a bad spot and get Samuel Popkin as a court appointed attorney DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, ACCEPT HIM TO REPRESENT YOU.

I was referred to Popkins from a family member so I thought it was a good option to represent my brother who was going to trial! EPIC FAIL! He did absolutely nothing to represent him and was absolutely NO DEFENSE! I mean NOTHING!! We went into trial blind sided in which Popkins didnt pull any kind of... evidence to fight the case. Now i am playing clean up looking for a new lawyer to help appeal to get some of the time he was given back. By the way, He only responds to text messages. He tells you one thing and does another. Please pass Go and keep your money!

He was all about getting a DUI I received dismissed, when toxocolgy report came in he couldn't even understand it, but showed no ethanol in my system, and when we got to court he did absolutely nothing for me, in the time which he was late getting to my hearing, and was more worried about another cli...ent he was in court with at the same time. He requested no culpitory evidence from officer, and Did actually no rebuttal ass to I was pulled over for alcohol, and toxicology report showed none in my system, and the judge was in a hurry to leave for a baseball game, and Popkin refused to a continues.... He assured me that it would be dismissed, and he talked a good game, but the Judge stated that he finds State police to be very honest and charged me with a DWI without regard for the Toxicology report that I did have to pay the state back for that was not even taken into consideration, and Mr. Popkin rolled over like a whipped puppy. He is No Lawyer: He requested no Ignore evidence, and since officer was going off his notes, he never objected to his testimony via evidence as he never saw the notes.... He is a court appointed attorney and should be removed as such as well as License to practice law..... He doesn't do any to work prior to court, you cant even speak to him except on walk in from 7-9 and 12-1 and he does absolutely no work in between time you see him at those times....I'm filing a Bar Association complaint against him as well as the judge I voted for by the way..... Did you know that there are no minutes taken in district court in Onslow County.. The entire Court system was a joke, they spent the entire day reducing case as the Judge said if you are UNC Fan which a UNC shirt was hanging on the bench....In court April 4th... The Judge stated that my Inability to take a field sobriety test is ridiculous and there is no health Issue that should prevent that? Vertigo is what I have, and I was greatful I requested the blood work which proves that I had No ethanol in my system! The Judge based is Opinion off his respect for officer, and not off facts, and Mr Popkin allowed that to happen based off his need to get to another hearing, and didn't accept continues when he was told he had 30 because they had a Baseball game to get to!

I paid him 1000$ up front to take my husband's case. He was only going to charge $2000 total which was a great price. But when my husband's charges were dismissed in federal court. Mr Popkin wasn't needed. No refund. He didn't do anything. Oh yeah and you have the hardest time getting a hold of him.... He only answers by text when he feels like it. Very unprofessional
