Expert

Connie Payne recently navigated me through a high conflict divorce and I highly recommend her for the following reasons. She sought justice. She was an expert at what she does. She was professional and always on time and never dropped any balls ever. She fought harder than I had the capacity to fig...ht in the midst of extricating myself from a destructive marriage. She was led by reason rather than emotion and did not needlessly provoke an already inflammatory situation. She gave me honest and expert answers as I took ownership of what was probably the most important personal/financial negotiation of my lifetime. She saw the big picture of how I could best land well at the end of my divorce and guided me step by step towards that end. She partnered with me, forcefully asserting her opinions, but also respecting my goals as the client even if they differed from hers. She demonstrated compassion as I faced what may have been the greatest challenge of my lifetime. And her assistant, Jennifer, embodied these very same values. Thanks to the efforts of this divorce team, I have landed safely, am beginning a new life, and am profoundly grateful.

Agree with "Deplorable" and "Awful"

I agree with both of the reviews here giving Connie 1 star... one titled "Deplorable" and the other one "Awful". I had a very similar experience and definitely felt like her cash cow and that she was not there to truly work for me. I wasted thousands of dollars of my hard-earned money and over a year... of time that led to nothing but stress, frustration and no results. After spending tens of thousands of dollars, I too fired her and was able for a fraction of the cost, get excellent results through Haley Harden of Harden Law Firm. If you are no longer truly interested in helping good, hard-working people, and only care about who you can nickel and dime to death during some of the most difficult times in their lives, it's time to retire. And if you insist on continuing to practice perhaps you should look into EQ training. I don't know how you can be a family law attorney with negative EQ. Perhaps criminal defense would've been more her forte. Sadly, though, that's not where the money is at.

Awful

I had a somewhat simple divorce. Not much that needed splitting up. I knew I wanted shared custody of my son and I needed a good attorney for that. At our first court appearance we never got in front of the judge due to the court system not having a reporter that day. At the guidance of Connie the ju...dge ruled based on what both attorneys submitted that day. Connie was socked in the mouth that day by what my ex’s attorney (Cherie Barton) submitted to the judge as truth. She never recovered after that. Needless to say I continued to pay her because I was trusting her guidance. My tab finally reached $30,000 and I never got in front of a judge. I was so mad at myself by this point because I had trusted her to do what was right and fight for me. She did neither. I wanted my day in court to prove the allegations against me were false. Connie didn’t want to fight for me at that point. Her idea was to throw my money at my ex and hope for the shared custody I was seeking. After I was asked for an additional $5000, which would have brought my total to $35000, I fired Connie at that point and sought the guidance of Tom Holland. Tom was willing to put up a fight for me at a fraction of the cost. After it was all said and done, I pay child support only, no attorney or PI fees. I kept all property. So don’t go on the advice of your friends. Don’t hire an expensive attorney because you think they’re better. They’re not. They suck. They know you have a little money and they guide you into throwing your money at something to get what you want. Divorce is hard enough but when you have attorneys like Connie taking people’s money it makes much harder. Wish I could give NO stars.
