She began her legal career after obtaining her law degree at The University of South Carolina School of Law by working as a Staff Attorney with the South Carolina Supreme Court. She entered private practice in Columbia, SC in the field of family law. She is a member of many distinguished organizations such as the North and South Carolina Bar Associations, the Mecklenburg County and York County Bar Associations, the American Bar Association, and the International Association of Collaborative Law Professionals as well as the Charlotte Collaborative Divorce Group. She was elected to serve on the Family Law Council of both the North Carolina and South Carolina Bar Associations for a three year term which ends in 2020.
