Poor representation, very unprofessional

Attorney Exum was hired by my father to represent him in a wrongful death lawsuit, in which my motherbpassed away. My sisters and I became his clients, upon the passing of my father in the midst of the case. Mr. Exum displayed a very unprofessional attitude in responding to questions that we would se...ek information or clarification about, he was condescending and refused to provide documents that we requested. When asked about a delay or no communication from him, he would say that he was working on something for us pertaining to our case, but after fact checking for ourselves, we found that he, in fact, had not done the work or made the contacts that he said he had. I ended up terminating his services as a result of there being no communications to us and his unprofessional responses when we would repeatedly question the delay in the case and an over 11-month delay in us receiving funds from a settlement that we agreed upon with the defendant's insurance company, 11 months prior. Documents we received, indicated that the funds were held in his "trust" account for almost a year. All of this, with no explanation and no communication from him. After emailing him of the termination, he emailed that he would refuse to respond to any further communication, but the funds still were not immediately dispersed to us. When we requested receipts as proof of medical payments made by him through the "trust account" from the settlement funds, none were provided. We notified the state bar of his conduct and complaint filings are pending.
