I recently got married last September in Pakistan. Upon returning to the states in October, I submitted an I-130 Form (Petition for Alien Relative) for my wife to come live with me in California. After waiting an agonizing six months, I received a letter from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service...s stating, "Request for evidence. The documentation submitted is not sufficient to warrant favorable consideration of your petition/application." Needless to say, I panicked. The immigration process, already being as long as it was, was being delayed even further. I picked up the phone and dialed Miguel San Jose. He calmed me down a bit and told me that we would work together and get everything set up to mail out to them. He was very patient with me and seemed very knowledgeable about the whole Immigration process. I showed him the letter and asked him why they were asking for these items (Nikah Nama and Marriage Certificate) when I had already sent it to them. I also mentioned that there was no marriage certificate produced in Pakistan and they only wrote up a Nikah Nama when one was married (according to my dad). Miguel informed me that they not only need the Nikah Nama in its original state, but they also require an English translation. And as for the marriage certificate he told me about how I could go about acquiring one from NADRA (a government agency in Pakistan). He even gave me the website for NADRA. Afterwards, he looked over all the gathered documents to make sure everything was proper and then mailed them out. All in all, it was a very pleasant interaction. I found Miguel to be very professional and courteous. Again, he was extremely patient with me and I was also calmed by the fact that he knew all the ins and outs of the Immigration process. I would definitely recommend his services and advisement to anyone going through a similar process. My only regret is that I didn't get in touch with him when I first filed the application; I would have avoided an unnecessary delay.
