David Simmons

I have worked with David Simmons at Sodoma Law on divorce and domestic violence protective order cases, and highly recommend his counsel. David is very professional and thorough, and has helped me navigate several technical and complex legal issues in negotiations and in court. He has also reviewed... documents from an attorney I hired prior to him, and helped me navigate the negative consequences of how those documents were written. My next step with David will be to redraft those and attempt to renegotiate that agreement. In addition to his technical expertise, David has taken the time and care to really understand me and my family so that he keeps our core values and priorities in mind at all times. He does a great job of explaining all of my options to me, giving me his recommendation, then giving me room to process and make a decision. When I met David Simmons at the end of November, 2016, I had just been assaulted by my abusive husband, who was consequently arrested and convicted. My daughter, Heather Bolyard, age 30 had researched and had made a plan for when this day would come. The abuse lasted 14 years. Escalating. My ex-husband made things very difficult and stalled as much as he could, hoping I would run out of money. But in the end, with David's help, we succeeded. I was very pleased with the outcome. The outcome was that I got the house. I am now in the process of selling the house to downsize and will have a cushion of money in the bank. And ex-husband cannot dispute anything because I asked for no alimony. David asked me numerous times if I was sure of this. I said yes. He wanted me to be absolutely sure. And I still am. David Simmons is a stellar attorney, making sure he addressed all the details, and the details in between the details. I am so glad that Heather found him, and that he was my attorney. Steadfast, patient, kind, extremely smart with a great sense of humor. Without humor it would have been miserable! We were a good team and accomplished the goal. I am official divorced. I am so much calmer. My blood pressure is normal. I am looking towards the future. There is nothing I can do or say to express my gratitude to David Simmons. A few years after being divorced, the separation agreement made without a lawyer was no longer working for me. David Simmons was the most professional, hard working, caring lawyer. We hired him on an emergency custody case 4 hours from our home.
