Switched lawyers on me three times since June 2024, after thousands of dollars , no results. I’m changing lawyers.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE My original review mysteriously disappeared, so I’m reposting. I had an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience with Blood Law and attorney Michaela Morris. I paid $250 for a consultation and was led to believe the attorney had significant experience with c...ases like mine. I later learned this wasn’t accurate and that the attorney was new to the firm. I paid $5,000 for a DVPO case and $2,500 for a custody case. Despite reaching out repeatedly by phone and email in the weeks leading up to court, communication was nearly nonexistent. The night before my hearing, I was sent a short list of questions, and the attorney arrived to court unprepared and unwilling to present clear, strong evidence that could have helped my case. In court, I was even referred to by my abuser’s last name. Several billing issues followed, including charges for meetings that never occurred. When I raised concerns, I was informed the attorney would be withdrawing. I later received confirmation via email that some billed services had not been delivered, yet the firm declined to refund or correct those charges. After the attorney withdrew, I received an email containing confidential information belonging to multiple clients. I replied “all” to the email asking not to be contacted further and shared that I had filed a complaint with the NC State Bar. Allowing the other attached clients to see my response. Following that, I received a legal threat from the firm warning me not to share my experience with other clients, and later, another message demanding I remove my BBB complaint or face legal action for defamation. Everything I stated in my review and formal complaints is factual and based on my personal experience. I believe this firm attempted to silence my honest feedback, and I do not feel clients should be treated this way. Please research thoroughly before hiring. I do not recommend Blood Law based on my experience.

Ask for DETAILED BREAKDOWN OF CHARGES!!

THIS LAWFIRM WILL OVERCHARGE YOU IF YOU DON'T ASK FOR A DETAILED BREAKDOWN OF THEIR CHARGES ONCE THEY BILL YOU!!! This firm was a referral from a friend of mine that used Blood Law. Like most friend referrals, I would trust that if a friend had a good experience, so will I... so I thought. I... realized I was getting overcharged after getting my biweekly ( 1st and the 15th you will have a bill) charges and I couldn't understand why the charges were so high. I felt in my stomach that something wasn't right, so I asked for a breakdown of the bill so I will know why they were charging me so I can get a better understanding of the bill. To my surprise, the staff were kinda annoyed because I asked to see a detailed breakdown of their charges. The accountant person didn't know nor could give me an explanation, so they have to ask the lawyers. The accountant told me people normally don't ask for a breakdown of their bill, they just pay it. I told the accountant kindly that I still want to know. When they finally got back with me, I noticed that there were charges that were errors. I asked to look at previous monthly payments I've already made and looked through those breakdowns and again, I saw more issues. At this time, I've spent over $15,000 so far and I was afraid to drop the lawfirm and find another, but things were already on the court calendar so I kept them as my representation . Once my case was finished, I took my requested detailed breakdowns to another attorney friend that retired from practicing family law and they showed me charges I was overbilled to confirm what I've already knew.. I just wanted a second opinion. I don't have the finances to take legal action, nor do I have the time or energy but I can give a WARNING and ADVICE... TO ANY NEW POTENTIAL CLIENTS, PLEASE REQUEST A FEE BREAKDOWN EACH TIME THEY BILL YOU, JUST LIKE THEIR ACCOUNTANT TOLD ME " NO ONE EVER ASK"

BEWARE!!

I hired this firm to help me with a custody hearing. When I met with them I expressed to them my financial hardships as well as what I was looking to get accomplished. I was very adamant about my budget and finances from the very first meeting. I knew I only had so much money to spend on a lawyer. Th...ey expressed to me that with what I had budgeted to hire a lawyer would be fine and if anymore money would be needed hey would let me know before proceeding. After just 2 weeks they called me asking me for more money. I had already given them a $4500 retainer. They stated that I would need to send them another $3000.00 if I wanted them to continue. I was very concerned in regards they had done nothing for me to have used all of the $4500 and now asking me for another $3000. I told them not to continue working on my case. A week later I received another call from their firm asking me to pay my bill of $6600.00. I told them I would not pay them anymore money for services I did not receive. 3 months later they turned me into a collections agency for the $6600.00.
