Late one cold winter night, I made a poor decision. I drove home when I probably shouldn’t have. I was stopped, arrested, and taken downtown to jail. For someone like me, who has never gotten into trouble like this before, the process was terrifying and humiliating. I'm an out-of-state driver who was passing through NC, and was pulled over for very momentary speeding while I moved to the left lane just to pass cars in the right lanes on I-485. It was the first speeding ticket I’d ever received, and was issued a citation that could have resulted in a misdemeanor ...conviction. After another attorney made some mistakes handling my case, I contacted Aaron Lee and he charged much lower attorney’s fees than the first attorney — but he took (much!) more time to speak with me, prepare my case and vigorously defend me in court. And he got the charges in my case significantly reduced based on surrounding circumstances that the first (more expensive) attorney didn’t raise. Mr. Lee is very familiar with which defenses and mitigating circumstances to raise before prosecutors and judges in defending clients and seeking the best outcome possible. Even if you’re paying a lower fee than other attorneys charge, Mr. Lee takes (more) time to speak and communicate with you in depth, and ensure your questions and concerns are addressed. I’ll be honest. I made a mistake. I drove when I should not have. I was wrong and this whole experience has been a wakeup call. This was also my first offense. I have a great job and would have certainly been terminated if found guilty of DWI. I also have a child on the way. The State of Nort...h Carolina does not care. The state prolonged my case for a year. Unprepared and disorganized. A year of worrying about my future should have been punishment enough. Aaron, undeterred, perused every feasible avenue in engineering my defense. Aaron is a consummate professional, straight forward, and tells it how it is. He never let me give up hope but made sure I was prepared for the worst. In the end, he got the charges dropped, persuading the DA that they had no case. I am beside myself for trusting this recommendation. Seriously. From the very beginning I was shocked that I didn't meet my lawyer face to face. He ONLY communicates via email or cell calls. He promises he's available, however he didn't respond to an urgent call for a few days because he was in t...he mountains and out of cell range. What is this? A circus? He doesn't have a partner or anyone else to speak with. He DOES NOT keep me up to date with court dates...there is no communication unless I call him. I'm left in the dark. He talks to the DA and the cops at the courthouse then tells me it seems like not much of the charges will go through. Then when I question him (email) about it he tells me he's not sure I'm going to have a chance against the tickets I got, when the only reason I paid thousands of dollars is because he paid good lip service and acted like I'll be okay. I don't understand a professional who prefers texts and emails over phone conversations and doesn't keep me up to date with anything. He didn't even warn me about a suspension of my license in NC. FRUSTRATED!
