Before working directly with the state on what appears to be a straight forward process in handling the death of a loved one's estate, take the time and money, borrow it if you have to, to see Heath Dedmond. Heath was patient and great at articulating the law in a way that helped me make a decision. He was quick at returning emails, and in the end he closed the estate as smoothly as possible. He stuck to his estimate of what it would cost to handle the estate and did so in a honorable way. Throughout the process it was clear that he empathized with the difficulty of my situation, but it wasn't until the very end that I realized he whole heartedly cared.
