the best criminal lawyer I know, no one better in Raleigh, NC

I have had him defend my niece in several cases and he has been very knowledgeable and worked the cases beyond my expectations. I am a retired Police Officer and I have seen many lawyers work in court and none do a better job than Lee. Really none do as well.

Got the job done!

Both myself and my son have used Mr. Turner for legal representation on several occasions. We were told what the possible outcomes could be and what his goals were; every time he delivered what his ultimate goal was. I'm very pleased with the professional way he and his staff conducts themselves.

Clients Beware!

I paid E. Lee Turner $5,000 in four months to represent my son in a criminal matter. Before I hired him He and I spoke about what his approach to the case would be, but after I had hired him, he did absolutely nothing that he was hired to do. Now he will not give the $5,000 back. I see that as legali...zed stealing. By the way, just to be clear, I am talking about the E. Lee Turner who used to be a police officer! Lee Turner lied to me about a federal law, taking advantage of my layperson status, trying to get me to talk my son into taking a plea deal after he did not put in the work on the case. I felt like he did not value my son’s case and should not have accepted it if he was not going to actually defend him. However, he wanted our money, and that is plain wrong!!! In four months, Lee Turner did not file one motion on my son’s behalf, lied to my son, saying he would come and see him the week of his first appearance as his attorney. Four weeks later, I found myself fighting to even get a phone call returned from him through his office because I didn't have his cell phone number. His office assistant said, “I am not giving you his phone number.” I had to fight for four solid weeks to get him to see my son and then he pops up with a plea deal, arguing with my son (his client) and me, overlooking inconsistencies in the case that he should have challenged through motions. I did find that when he had a high profile case, he knew how to file motions and challenge inconsistencies. It is too many unbelievable things to share in this one review. The worse part is that he visited my son only three times in four months, filed no motions, had a poor knowledge of the case. He personifies the word evil because he refuses to give me any money back that he did not earn. How did he earn it when going off on his own, not caring or researching beans soup about the inconsistencies in the case and then without my son’s consent, went to the DA to get a plea deal. Turner advised (threatened me) to be careful where I post my accusations saying that he has an excellent reputation in this community and at the courthouse. What exactly does that mean? Should I be looking over my shoulders? Well, Lee Turner, I tried to negotiate with you, I asked you to be fair and at least offer to return some money. Now, I want others to know about you. I do not want another family to be subjected to your kind of defense. You betrayed your own client and profited from what he has not earned.

Not about the client, more about personal reputation

Had him for a case because I was told he was a former cop, and had the ear of the DA and relationships that could help my case. He never would get back to me with asnwers to my questions, and when he did, they were unclear, that left himself wiggle room. In the end, he was not a bulldog as a defense ...lawyer. He played too much on a buddy system, that would only help him stay in good graces with the Police Dpmt., he previously worked for and with. He purposely waited for the cop to show in court to go before the judge, when there were multiple times the cop wasn't there and he had it continued. He was more concerned about his relationship with the police, than he was about defending me as a client. The cop made it worse for me in the end, and all he told me was, "Hey it goes like that sometime, at least you're not in jail, send that final payment to my office". His connections and expertise is only good for NCSU athletes, and parking tickets. If you really need defending, and he can't get something out of it other than money, he is not your guy. He never calls back, and leaves his paralegal to do all his contact, and explain things to you. He's a good guy at heart, and speaks pleasant, but being nice to you, won't get you out of legal situation, that depends on him being aggressive, and putting his name as not good for the DA, police department. He will sacrifice you, long before he is not looked upon as one of the good ole boys.
