Joe Budd is a founding member of Counsel Carolina and leads the firm’s workers’ compensation practice. Joe uses his experience as a former insurance defense and workers’ comp defense lawyer to help clients who are injured on the job. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Joe was a staff member with the United States House Committee on Ways and Means in Washington, DC.

Originally from Fairfield County, Connecticut, Joe graduated from Wheaton College, Illinois with degrees in History and Economics and the University of Virginia School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Joe recently celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with his wife Emily and, together, they have three children. He is in a life-long love/hate relationship with the New York Mets and enjoys board games, science fiction, and history in his spare time.
