Amanda Buyrn is an attorney and founding partner at Capital City Law. She is licensed to practice in both North Carolina and Virginia.
Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, Amanda comes from a family of lawyers. She got her start in the legal field at an early age, working in her father’s law firm during summer breaks in high school. She left Chesapeake to attend college at East Carolina University, where she graduated magna cum laude in three years with a major in Criminal Justice, and a minor in French. She spent a summer interning at the attorney general’s office in Washington, D.C. before moving to Raleigh. Amanda gained valuable experience working as a paralegal for several years at one of the premier catastrophic injury firms in the area before deciding to attend law school at Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.
During her time at Campbell, Amanda’s studies focused on trial advocacy. She was a member of and participated in the Campbell Law Innocence Project and Women in Law, as well as organizing and playing for the Campbell Law softball team. She was awarded the NC Association of Women Attorneys Scholarship and the Melanie Callison Memorial Scholarship. Amanda spent several semesters interning with Podgorny Law, the Wake County Public Defender’s Office, and Klish & Eldreth, PLLC. While gaining valuable experience during law school and a top notch practical education, it is the relationships she developed during her time at Campbell that she deems most valuable – including those with fellow partners Katie Dowell and Kyle Smalling (who may have won a mock-trial against her, but sadly lost the mock-appeal).
Outside of the office, Amanda can be found spending time with her family including three younger siblings, close friends, and her charming cat, Sunny. Together with them, she enjoys taking traveling adventures, exploring Raleigh, and outdoor activities and sports.

Speeding
I recently got stopped for speed. I was a couple of miles from losing my license. I called a few different attorneys, and they all basically said the same thing. "We will reduce it down to 14 miles over and ask for a prayer for judgement." When I asked if they could try to do better they said they co...
