Jodie Young-Jackson is an associate attorney practicing in the family law department. She began her tenure with the firm as a law student and spent years serving as the family law clerk before passing the bar and moving on to full attorney status.
Jodie initially obtained a B.A. in Psychology and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. After graduation, she relocated to the University of Florida to pursue graduate work in Neuropsychology. During this period, she was trained as a crisis counselor and served as a crisis responder and suicide interventionalist for 6 years. After completing her master’s level research on the effects of transcutaneous magnetic brain stimulation, Jodie pivoted and returned to her home state of North Carolina to study law at UNC.
From her very first few weeks as a law student, Jodie involved herself in the realm of domestic violence litigation and family law. First, she served as the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence policy intern for over a year and then subsequently clerked at various family law firms across North Carolina before happily landing at BHS. During law school, she participated in the UNC DV clinic, the Student Bar Committee, and Women in Law. She was also honored with the UNC Law Pro Bono Excellence Award, largely related to her work advocating for victims of domestic violence.
Jodie has a true passion for legal research and advocacy, which she credits to a wealth of diverse experiences and an appreciation for deeper analysis. In her free time, she serves as a world commentator for bar sports, like Air Hockey, and enjoys trying new gluten-free restaurants.
