Biography
Matthew was born in 1979 in Port Huron, Michigan and grew up in Buffalo, New York before moving to North Carolina in 2006. Matthew resides in Chapel Hill with his wife Catherine and their three children. Catherine is a member of the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Matthew has appeared in the court rooms of more than 20 different counties in North Carolina and has the unique perspective and experience of knowing how court works in a variety of locations from the State Capitol to the smallest of towns. Matthew can handle your case whether it is a felony in Mocksville or a traffic ticket in Raleigh. Additionally, Matthew has extensive trial experience having tried dozens of cases of all types in various locations. Along with District 15-B Assistant District Attorney Jeffrey Nieman, Matthew co-founded the North Carolina Driver’s License Restoration Project (NCDLRP). In May 2011, the NCDLRP received the University of North Carolina School of Law’s Pro Bono Student Project of the Year award along with the North Carolina Bar Association’s Law Student Group Pro Bono Award. Also, Matthew was one of two individuals nominated for the position of District 15-B Public Defender at the May 2011 & May 2015 annual meetings.

Hire him and his partner if you want a good attorney
We had 3 misdemeanor charges that he and his partner had disposed. He was very patient with me and my family who were probably not the easiest clients to deal with. I highly recommend.

Matthew's firm handled a failure to avoid an accident citation for us. Ticket was DISMISSED!!!
I didn't realize that a speed limit had recently been changed from a 35 to a 25 mph zone. The policeman gave me a ticket for a 36 mph. Michael Paduchowski consulted with me and was so knowledgeable and professional. The court date was postponed several times and then finally dismissed! NO court costs...
