About Daniel
Biography
Daniel W. Cole is a registered patent attorney who enjoys using his scientific and legal knowledge to help startups and larger companies manage and protect their intellectual property interests. He has experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law. Mr. Cole has a degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a degree in biochemistry from Wake Forest University. He also taught at the college level for five years, which has given him the experience to deal with varied and complex legal and scientific issues.
Among his experiences with handling intellectual property matters, Mr. Cole has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for biotechnological technologies. In addition, Mr. Cole has conducted patent searches for mechanical and computer-implemented technologies. He has also registered trademarks, conducted trademark searches, and written cease and desist letters for both trademark and patent matters.
During law school, Mr. Cole was an intern with GlaxoSmithKline, North Carolina State University’s Office of Research, Innovation and Economic Development (ORIED), and Quintiles. Additionally, he was a staff member of the University of North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation where he wrote a blog post on America’s Treatment of Famous Marks. His publications can be found on the popular website IP Watchdog.
During graduate school, Mr. Cole studied the enzyme kinetics of TREX2 a 3’ to 5’ DNA exonuclease.
