A Steadfast Advocate for Those in Need
Cynthia Hager’s journey in the legal field began at Virginia Tech, where she graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with minors in History and Sociology. During her time there, she embraced opportunities for global learning, studying abroad in Lugano, Switzerland, and Nyamyumba, Rwanda, through the Linking Lives program. This experience instilled in her a deep appreciation for supporting sustainable social change, a value that she continues to uphold in her legal career.

Driven by her passion for law, Cynthia pursued her Juris Doctor degree at Elon University School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. During her time at Elon, Cynthia distinguished herself as a dedicated student leader. She served as the President of the Family Law Society and Vice President of Community for the Fellowship of Christian Lawyers, showcasing her commitment to both her legal community and her faith. In addition to her leadership roles, Cynthia worked as an Academic Fellow and Research Assistant.

Cynthia’s commitment to excellence was further demonstrated through her involvement with We the People, Elon Law’s Constitutional Law Journal, where she served as a Notes and Comments Editor. Her dedication to legal scholarship and research set her apart as a thorough and detail-oriented professional.

Before attending law school, Cynthia gained practical experience as a paralegal at a Virginia law firm, where she discovered her passion for the legal profession. This hands-on experience solidified her decision to become an attorney, motivating her to pursue further education at Elon University School of Law.

During her legal studies, Cynthia honed her skills through internships at the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office and a residency with the Honorable Judge David Cayer, a federal district court magistrate judge. These experiences provided her with valuable insights into the complexities of the legal system and equipped her with the knowledge necessary to advocate effectively for her clients.

Cynthia’s dedication to serving her community extends beyond her professional endeavors. She volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of abused, neglected, and dependent children. This role reflects her deep empathy and commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the legal field, Cynthia received a Pro Bono Award and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Outstanding Law Student Award, underscoring her commitment to exceptional legal service and advocacy.

Outside of her legal practice, Cynthia enjoys traveling, walking her dog, and discovering new local coffee shops. These passions provide balance to her busy professional life, allowing her to approach her work with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
