Biography
I have been Board Certified as a Famiy Law Specialist since 1991 and was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 1994. I have practiced exclusively family law for 35 years and a certified family financial mediator and an AAML certified arbitrator. I am listed in Best Lawyers in America in Family Law and Family Law Mediation, and North Carolina Super Lawyers and Legal Elite in Family Law. My associate, Ashley Bennington, has practiced exclusively family law for 12 years and is a Board Certified Family Law Specialist. Ashley also serves as an adjunct professor in family law at Elon Law School.
I have spoken at family law continuing legal education seminars for lawyers sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association, Wake Forest University, and the Greensboro and High Point Bar Associations. In addition, I have served as an adjunct professor in family law Elon Law School since 2008 and at Wake Forest University School of Law and have been a guest lecturer at UNC School of Law on family law.
For the community, I have served as Chair of the Eastern Music Festival Board of Directors from 2008-14, and Chair of the local Legal Aid Advisory Board for many years.
