Dishonest lawyer

Chelsie was my daughter-in-law's lawyer on a custody suit. My son and his ex finally worked out their problems and put everything to the best interest of the child. Prior to settling the child's mother continually took out papers on my son for harassment, DV, and several other charges. She dropped al...l charges and admitted that Chelsie told her if she took out the charges it would make her case look better and she would have a better chance of getting full custody. My DIL admitted that all charges were fabricated by her lawyer.

Unprepared

Mrs. Embler was retained to represent me in a Domestic Violence Protective Order in early December 2023. In preparing for court, we spoke several times regarding my written declaration, and the events contained within. It wasn’t until 3 days before my hearing in the middle of March 2024 that Mrs. Emb...ler realized that she didn’t have 3 of the 6 pages of the declaration she was to defend. The realization was framed as a failure on my part, even though, 1) I had been referencing detailed events contained within the document since December, and 2) THE PAGES ARE NUMBERED. She also never took the time to open email attachments I had send in December containing police reports, 911 audio call logs and photographic evidence. By the time she tried, 3 days prior to the hearing, the attachments were no longer valid. Basically, she had 4 months to prepare, and waited until days prior only to realize she was far behind the curve. I was asked to re-send the missing pages and files, and at 6:30 pm on the night before the hearing, she asked me to print out the photos, and files had sent her as she had “run out of time.” The police transcripts alone were 56 pages! The bottom lie is Mrs. Embler was not only unprepared, she was disinterested in my case and it showed in court. I firmly believe there is better representation out there, and encourage those looking for a competent, tenacious attorney to look elsewhere.

Thankful

It felt like she was my big sister just taking care of everything for me and making sure I was going to be okay. She set me up for success. She’s perfect. I feel so lucky. Chelsie is exactly the kind of lawyer - the lawyer, that you’d want on your side in any family court case.

I hired Chelsie for my custody case. She was very unprofessional. She requested my retainer to be in cash. She did not give me the retainer paperwork to sign until a month before going to trial. I only received one billing statement the whole time and when she did email me one she charged me $350 to ...review pictures that did not protein to my case. She did not subpoena anyone except my husband. In her prep she wanted me to be untruthful on the stand and I refused to and called her out on it. She refused to submit evidence that would greatly benefit my case. Because she refused to submit evidence other criminal cases were dismissed against my ex-husband who had domestic violence charges and stalking charges against him. I do not recommend her at all. Very unprofessional and dishonest.
