Jeff Bloomfield is the principal attorney behind Carolina Estate Planning. The goal of Jeff’s law practice is to take one of the best things you can do for the security and well-being of your family and make it as easy to accomplish as possible. Jeff does this by delivering a personalized estate plan tailored to his client’s unique circumstances and offering multiple ways to collaborate and finalize the plan documents.
Jeff was among the sixty-percent of Americans without an estate plan before attending law school. Overwhelmed with running a business, making time for family, and all his other social commitments, he kept putting it off. While interning with an estate planning attorney Jeff quickly learned just how big of a risk it was not to have an estate plan.
Jeff has witnessed even the most close-knit families fighting over the guardianship of children or elderly parents, end of life care decisions and yes, money. Not having a plan or not having the right plan in place can tear a family apart, regardless of the size of the estate left behind.
In addition to the bad, Jeff has seen how a well-crafted estate plan can bring families together. People want to see their loved one’s final wishes adhered to. Anyone who has lost someone close can attest that this pain is one of life’s most difficult emotions to bare. However, they will often tell you there is a sense of purpose and honor that comes with helping to carry out their loved one’s final wishes. This feeling of honor and purpose helps with the grieving process and reduces the stress seen in families who are not working from a plan.
Jeff earned his law degree at Elon University School of Law where he was President of the International Law Society, Editor and Chief of the International Law Digest, and an Executive Editor for the Elon Law Business Journal. He is currently completing an L.L.M. in taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Westville, Indiana.
He is also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer from the Republic of Moldova where he worked as a small business adviser and helped establish a legal clinic. Jeff currently serves as a commissioner for the Winston-Salem Human Relations Commission and volunteers with SCORE as a business mentor.
Further, Jeff is a member of the Winston-Salem Estate Planning Counsel, the North Carolina Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section, the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section, and Wealth Counsel, a nationwide network of estate planning professionals. Jeff lives in Winston Salem with his wonderful wife Kate, son Linden and their dog Dakota and cat Claiborne.
Helping you create an estate plan that protects and secures your family’s well-being, regardless of your net worth, is what Jeff’s law practice is all about. With the online platform, office, and home visit options, making an estate plan that protects you and your family has never been easier.

Fellow attorney
I am a fellow attorney in the same practice area. Jeffrey is a colleague to whom I would feel comfortable referring a friend or family member, particularly on matters involving taxation or business succession.
