Very unprofessional

Has no office staff! Does not return calls in a timely manner..... I was appointed Mathew for an appeal the courts told him he was not aloud to handle anything other than the appeal.... he and the court failed to mention this part so anything I brought to him regarding my case he acted like he was in...terested in it and was going to do something about it. Meanwhile he just wasted my time for me to do something about. I still haven’t seen my paperwork he promised multiple times. He was supposed to be appointed for free... he end up costing me several days of work that were I scheduled meetings with him weeks in advance for him to cancel at the last minute. Where’s my paper work Matt! I know the court goes off of here say but do I?

No Defense- Literally!

I hired Mr. Devore for a DUI case. Despite being assured by his boss, Michelle Risen, that my case was "one of the most easily winnable DUI cases" their office had ever seen, he lost. After getting a continuance to include medical evidence, we were decided on how my defense would be. At the beginning... of the trial, Mr. Devore told the prosecutor that he was "not going to present a defense." He did not effectively cross examine the police officer who did not follow proper procedures, call forward a witness who was ready to testify or enter my medical evidence because he said that he thought it would confuse the jury. They certainly weren't confused when they found me guilty for a crime I did not commit. After not returning emails or phone calls, I noted that he still had not given me a review copy of my appeal a week before it was due. I had to fire him, and he filed and has Mrs. Risen sign a Request for Release as my attorney in a matter of hours. During that hearing in Circuit Court, Devore finally said that he didn't get a transcript for me because it would have been costly. Having never replied to an email or stating that in any way prior to that hearing, he decided that that was the appropriate time to inform me of that. I have now had to go to the cost of hiring an attorney to fix what he royally screwed up. It is not an exaggeration to say that I would have been much better off had I proceeded pro se and never hired him. You can do better than Matthew DeVore. Actually, you might as well hire an attorney instead of taking him as a public defender because if he "defends" you like he did me, you will be found guilty. He also acted like he was doing me a favor by coming from Circuit Court to Magistrate Court. I do not recommend hiring Matthew Devore to represent you in any way, shape or form. When I mentioned what happened with him to my new attorney, the word "incompetent" and the term "inadequate representation" were the only things the attorney had to say about his work in my case. I cannot say with any conviction that he will actually represent you in a sufficient or even vaguely acceptable capacity. If I could give him zero stars I would. You can and should do better. He may talk a good game, but Matthew Devore does not have his clients' backs when the court date arrives.
