Total incompetence

This law firm had my disability case for 6 years. I did all the leg work. Specifically medical records. Very difficult to get hold of anyone for updates or progress, of which there never was. Because they were doing nothing. One hearing before a judge. A paralegal showed up 5 minutes before the heari...ng. Knew absolutely nothing about my case and attempted to "cram" info from me. Literally laughed out of the courtroom by the judge. I fired this firm and hired a local attorney who works alone but a high success rate. I received my disability 5 months later. Jan Dios supoenaed the court for part of my backpay and received after doing absolutely nothing. This is nothing more than a social security mill. With thousands of cases and numerous offices even if they are successful in 1 of 5 cases, they're making millions of dollars annually. Stay away from this firm!

Doesn't keep in touch at all

My girlfriend, Marisa Brookover, has been trying to get in touch with these people for close to a year, but they act like she doesn't exist. She has done what they told her to do, but then they just leave her hanging. We would NOT recommend. Very poor customer service.

Hello! We’re saddened to hear that you feel as though we have offered your girlfriend poor customer service and have left her feeling as though she doesn’t exist. Every person who calls into our office is very important to us, and we strive to offer the same attention with each of them. However, it appears that we are currently awaiting medical documents from her treating source to review and are unable to obtain ourselves. Once this information has been received, we’d be happy to continue with Marisa’s consultation. We've left Marisa a voicemail and would like to discuss this further. Please allow us the opportunity to address and answer any further questions she may have regarding her status by returning our call as soon as possible.

Negligence-One Word that Describes-Do not Trust

Negligence. One word that describes my experience with Jan Dils. Negligence by definition is failure to take proper care in doing something and resulting in damage or injury to another. I had written an early review last year and if I could take it all back I would but I can’t. What can do is in...form about what has happened in the past year and how I lost my trust and respect for Jan Dills. I pray that none of you would make that same mistake. I worked with a case manager who I trusted for insight and direction. Over the past two years I went from job to job as I struggled with my mental illness. I have been literally fighting for my life. I have dealt with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thinking. I had no option but to work to survive to keep my mind of those thoughts. At most I could do part time and struggled to do that in the past two years. My case manager “KM” knew everything that was going on in my life when it came to work and what I was doing for work. I have been in the process of disability for two years with Jan Dils. Many people case managers included and those people that you turn to for help like “JC” think that $900 is not enough to survive on and some even encourage you to work. I had at times been told that social security might not be the best option. Let me share with you when you go through two major depressions and two breakdowns with very little hope of supporting yourself that $900 can save you from homelessness or suicide. I do not know either of them well enough to know if they have dealt with mental illness but what I do know is both women were able to hold the same job for two years that I have been a client with them. For many people who battle depression and anxiety on a daily basis being able to hold a job for longer than three months is almost impossible. Jan Dils and the people that I have worked with can go home with a sense of security for never having to walk in my shoes or many of their other clients. The phone call I received from “K Shatter” was one of the worse I have ever gotten. During those three months I corresponded with her updating her on how the job was going and my pay stubs. Not once did she or anyone else from Jan Dills inform me about how my current position could affect my disability case. You think after knowing someone for two years and aware of their work history that statistically speaking they were going to lose this job as well. The phone call which I received had no tone of sympathy or compassion from my case manager. She then went on to tell me that she had the information reviewed with a senior attorney and could no longer represent me. If not to make things worse she went over every pay stub and how I went over the SDA limit each of the three months. Now why would someone wait three months to have a senior attorney review you case and why would never be advised about it? By this time there was nothing I could do, they left me with very little options other than well wishes and hope that I could continue with my current job. Jan Dils took away my hope and shattered me into pieces. Please do not let them do the same to you. I don’t know how the Lord feels about me sharing this letter but when people’s lives are at stake, it is important that they know just what Jan Dils is about. Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
