I hired Michael Huff to defend my daughter from a domestic assault charge which had been filed against her by a police officer who claimed to have seen her slap her husband on the side of his head. The incident - which involved no injury at all to her husband - occured when she and her husband had ju...st come out of a paternity hearing in juvenile and domestic relations court where my daughter's husband had just been determined to have fathered a child with another woman. But the police officer refused to give any consideration whatsoever to the upsetting and provocative circumstances of the incident, and my daughter's husband - soon to be ex-husband - was unwilling to see the charge dropped. As such, Michael offered a deal that would have resulted in multiple abuse charges against my daughter's husband being dropped in exchange for dropping the single charge against her, but my daughter's husband and the prosecutor rejected that deal. They also objected to my daughter being granted any measure of leniency in the form of "first offender" status and my daughter's husband insisted that the case be brought to trial and my daughter prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Fortunately, Michael's expertise, and his extensive knowledge of the law, helped him find a solution to the situation which spared my daughter the expense and embarassment of a trial and which convinced the judge to dimiss the charge against her.
