Joseph Rocco Caprio

He was referred to me by a bail bondslady at the Gloucester County jail. He wasn't present the first time I went to his office so I dealt with his secretary who was extremely nice and helpful. At the second meeting to discuss my case, he arrived in a pair of shorts and tee shirt and didn't really se...em like he cared about my case. His mind was elsewhere. He kept mentioning a trip to the Outer Banks that he was late for and he raced me out of his office after throwing a lot of legalese at me. The meeting took about 10 minutes. The third time I again traveled the 45 minutes to his office and he showed up an hour late. He was already flustered and didn't have time for me. He rudely explained the plea deal he could get and told me to take it or leave it. He said that was all he could do. Again, the meeting lasted 10 minutes. The next day I called him to discuss my case and he was rude and disrespectful on the phone to me. At this point, I would have dropped him as my lawyer but I already had money invested in him. The day of court he showed up late again. We went in front of the judge and he verbally lied to me about the results of the plea deal, in front of a witness I had present with me. In court Mr. Caprio seemed confused and unsure of himself while interacting with the prosecutor and judge. After the judge read my sentence I was whisked off to the clerk's office to be processed and Mr. Caprio once again mysteriously disappeared. When I left the court house I called Mr. Caprio to ask him why my sentence was different than what we discussed and he told me he didn't know what happened and that's just the way it is. Mr. Caprio is the most unprofessional lawyer I have met and I wouldn't recommend him to anyone for anything.

I hired this guy for a case which should have easily been lowered to a lessor charge if he had cared at all about me as the client but he did not want to do any work. He would get mad at me when I would ask him about questions for a possible defense and never told me me any type of game plan for our ...case. He just wanted me to take a plea deal which was not in my best interest at all and he did not do anything to help me. He is one of those lawyers that just want you to take a plea deal. I would not recommend this attorney to any one it was the worst experience of my life and this guy should be barred from practicing.
