Such a good experience with estate planning!

Deborah has been SO helpful to us at different phases of our life. After we had children it all became real! Deb helped us with all aspects of estate planning – writing a will, establishing a trust, setting up medical directives, powers of attorney, etc. And she looked out for us over the years. When... our oldest child turned 18, she helped them set up their own power of attorney and medical directive so that we could continue to legally act on their behalf if the need ever arises (something we weren’t even aware we needed to do!). Our youngest just turned 18 and completed the same paperwork and I am so grateful with how much time and care Deb took with her. She was very welcoming and patient, taking the time needed to make sure she understood everything. She has always made us feel comfortable, no matter our questions! Deb is extremely knowledgeable and very caring. Highly recommend.

Real estate sale in a Trust

As coincidently both my estate attorney and the estate attorney for a real estate client of mine Deborah hit it out of the park for the rapid and seamless transfer of my dear client's Trust when he suddenly passed a week before settlement of his condo. The condo was in his Trust and I was sure the f...ormalities could not be done in time to close on a wonderful contract for the sale of his condo. In one day Deborah contacted to successor and lined up all the paperwork with her and the settlement company in order for the successor to sign 4 days later. I know without a doubt it would not have happened if not for Deborah's swift actions, excellent knowledge of what to do and desire to get it done for my client. Five stars for sure!!!

Very helpful

Ms. Matthews was very thorough and thoughtful in helping us revise our wills . She made changes and then more changes as we thought about how we wanted our estate to be settled. Her staff is very responsive and kind.

something wrong with her

Ms. Matthews was handling the estate for my husband and me. I was the caregiver for my mentally and physically disabled husband. She got our legal/financial affairs in order so that I had the ability to manage them. She at first was kind and compassionate and competent. A few years in, I met with... her just to update some contact information. She then sent me a review of what we discussed; there were errors in this, and also a question was raised in my mind about if I died before my disabled husband. I emailed her and called and she would not answer my question: finally she called back and said it compromised her ethics to answer my question: I just wanted to know what the law said about this issue; I was not trying to do anything unethical. She put me in contact with another lawyer who would have charged me $900 to answer the question. I dropped it; Matthews stopped sending us the yearly birthday cards, etc. ...Last month, my husband died. I called her office to see if she was willing to handle the legal details. She NEVER returned the call after a week. MY HUSBAND DIED, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, AND SHE IGNORED ME. Luckily I'd used a previous lawyer who had gotten ill which was why we went to Matthews; the first lawyer was in practice again and was happy to settle the estate for me. He called Deborah to have our file emailed to him; she said she would need my permission, but never contacted me for my permission. I got to my lawyer and had to bring him my huge file so he could copy it himself. What is wrong with her???????
