We won… First some background: I am a professional who has worked hard his whole life. I have never been in trouble with the legal system. I am also the father of two babies. I came home one day and got served papers by the mother evicting me from my home, handing over my car, and worst of all los...ing my two babies. I was subsequently arrested. I lost everything. Even worse, I was facing not seeing my babies for two years. My life was turned upside down when I was referred to Ms. Steinnerd by Mr. Brendan Harold (another fantastic attorney). Ms. Steinnerd took the lead in the family court matter. I learned in court the children’s mother took the kids out of state and law enforcement had to bring them back. By this time the children were placed in a foster home by the most incompetent DSS system imaginable. I was fighting an unstable mother and an overly aggressive county DSS. I was helpless. I had no choice but to put all my faith in my attorneys. Ms. Steinnerd took on the case as if my children were her own. She learned everything there was to know about the case. Her southern charm and hospitality is rivaled only by her tenacious legal acumen. Ms. Steinnerd refused to back down or be intimidated by opposing counsel or judge. Throughout the trials Ms. Steinnerd would argue legal issues despite countless objections and repeated warnings to curb her enthusiasm. Without hesitation she pressed on to uncomfortable levels. Later, when I asked her why she put herself out there like that she simply said, “to get it on the record in case we have to appeal.” Any less of a person would have backed down. Instead, Ms. Steinnerd put herself on the chopping block to make sure we were legally covered. Within a month Ms. Steinnerd was able to get my children back to me. The house and car were returned. However, the battle was only just beginning. It would take another year for this seemingly endless saga of one court date after another to finally be over. Ultimately, we appealed to Circuit Court. In the end all charges leveled by DSS were thrown out. Sole legal and physical custody was awarded to me, the father. The criminal charge was ultimately dismissed. My children and I are home and doing well. It took all my savings and all my effort to get here but that’s okay. There is no price I wouldn’t pay for my babies. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. I had no idea who Ms. Steinnerd was when I hired her. I had never been in a situation like this. It was a leap of faith that I thank God every day I took. However, not all cases are created equally. Every situation is different and any attorney has to work with the facts that you bring to the table. It is what it is and Ms. Steinnerd will work hard with you and those facts.
