Sarah Jean Knapp

Sarah J. Knapp began her legal career as the judicial law clerk for the Honorable William D. Hamblen (Ret.) of the Prince William County Circuit Court. Upon Judge Hamblen's retirement, she had the pleasure of working with numerous retired Judges from across the Commonwealth before serving as Judge Carroll A. Weimer's first law clerk. This experience provided a unique insight into the reasoning behind judges' rulings and best practices for attorneys. Additionally, it confirmed for Ms. Knapp the belief that resolving family law matters outside of court most often results in the best outcome.

Two years as a law clerk provided Ms. Knapp an invaluable experience in family law and domestic relations. Ms. Knapp researched and briefed countless motions touching on all aspects of domestic relations law including divorce, equitable distribution of property, the enforcement of property settlement agreements, child and spousal support issues, and custody and visitation.

Ms. Knapp graduated in 2011 in the top third of her class from George Mason University School of Law. During law school, she interned with the Honorable Leslie Alden of Fairfax County Circuit Court and Condo, Kelly & Byrnes, P.C., in McLean, Virginia. She also represented clients in uncontested divorce maters through the George Mason University Domestic Relations Legal Clinic.

She received her bachelor's degree, magna cum laude with double majors in Political Science and Communications, from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. Prior to law school, she worked for six years in public and media relations for Roger Williams University's Office of Public Affairs.

Ms. Knapp is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Fairfax Bar Association. She currently serves as Secretary of the Prince William County Bar Association.
