Biography
Bret Lee is the founder of Bret Lee Legal Solutions, where he represents people facing criminal charges in Virginia and Washington, D.C. He approaches each case with careful preparation, clear communication, and a determined commitment to protecting his clients’ rights at every stage of the legal process.
Bret handles a wide range of felony and misdemeanor matters, including DUI, reckless driving, drug possession, conspiracy, assault, fraud, and sex crime allegations. His practice includes both state and federal criminal defense, with a strong focus on courts throughout Northern Virginia, including Fairfax County, Prince William County, Herndon, Vienna, Fairfax City, Alexandria, Arlington, Loudoun County, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria.
Known for his thorough litigation strategy, Bret uses motions practice to pursue meaningful advantages early in a case. This may include motions to suppress evidence, bond motions, discovery motions, and other requests for relief designed to challenge the prosecution and strengthen the defense.
Before entering private practice, Bret served as a federal law clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Watkins in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama. His background also includes extensive appellate brief writing, including matters before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Virginia Court of Appeals.
Bret graduated magna cum laude from George Mason University School of Law in 2011. While in law school, he served as Managing Editor of the George Mason Law Review and participated on the Moot Court Board, focusing on national appellate advocacy competitions. He earned his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary.
A longtime Virginia resident, Bret lives in Reston and remains active in the legal community through volunteer work with the Fairfax County Bar Association and support for legal aid efforts across Northern Virginia. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Prompt and professional
