Patrick handled my divorce and child custody case with great calmness and objectivity. Additional Information Below Mr. Crawford was a knowledgeable and responsive advocate in a case that was complicated by the intrusive and unfounded actions of the plaintiff and her attorney. It was for this reason that two motions for protective order were filed - both of which were granted. Mr. Crawford's filings in this matter were excellent. He distilled a great deal of information into two coherent, comprehensive, and compelling documents. Due to the nature of the litigation, there were a number of other occasions where Mr. Crawford needed to engage with the Plaintiff's counsel. He did so professionally and effectively, even at times where Plaintiff's counsel was extremely difficult to deal with. Mr. Crawford's correspondence with Plaintiff's counsel included the preparation of several well-written, clearly stated, and well substantiated settlement offers and a point-by-point analysis and response to the Plaintiff's unsubstantiated settlement offer. Mr. Crawford's preparation for the merits hearing was consistent with his involvement throughout this case - rigorous, comprehensive, and thoughtful. At the merits hearing itself his opening statement and summation were both outstanding - logical and clearly presented. His cross-examination of the Plaintiff identified a number of inconsistencies and omissions in Plaintiff's direct testimony. Mr. Crawford's questioning of the one defense witness in addition to myself resulted in critical evidence being introduced that provided the basis for the subsequent favorable ruling. His questioning of me as the Defendant enabled me to tell a logical story that further substantiated the testimony of the other defense witness and enabled us to make the key points in our defense. The completeness of our testimony is seen in the fact that the judge asked only one clarifying question - and that was to ask me to confirm that he had clearly understood our position on a key issue. He had accurately understood our position and that understanding, supported by written evidence, provided the foundation for his ruling. Mr. Crawford encouraged and supported my active involvement in the progress of my case. He took time to understand the details of the case and consider my thoughts and comments while, equally important, never allowing me to drive the case in inappropriate direction. From my perspective, Mr. Crawford and I functioned as an effective collaborative team without which we would not have achieved the favorable outcome.
