I was facing an uncontested divorce, custody, visitation, alimony, opposing attorney fees, retroactive child support, and a few other items. Terrified wouldn't even begin to explain my disposition, as I felt that my soon to be ex wife surely had a few tricks up her sleeve and was armed with an except...ionally knowledgeable defense attorney of sorts. I figured we'd be able to get this court thing behind us without a fight, but after she showed up to the courthouse with an attorney, I knew I'd need to retain one as well. I stumbled upon Mr. Voss via an online search of Baltimore lawyers and he immediately set up an appointment with me at a very convenient location. We talked candidly about my situation and how I was worried about my settlement conference coming up in less then a month. He offered to represent me at the hearing for a very reasonable price and we were able to settle on about 85% of the issues at hand. Exactly one week later and we have everything completely resolved since we had to go to trial. Mr Voss vigorously defended me in a court of law and prevented the opposing attorney from taking advantage of my lack of the understanding the legal process. Ron Voss taught me how to navigate my separation and divorce case and did so with patience, kindness, and respect. When I first hired Ron, I didn't know anything about family law or how to proceed towards a formal separation agreement with my wife. I was involved in a very complicated child custody case for many years. (In short, my ex-husband made false accusations against me which resulted in his obtaining sole custody of my children; I was desperately trying to get them back). I had already worked with several highly-recommended attorneys a...nd was repeatedly disappointed by how each one handled my case. Primarily, I didn't think any of them worked hard enough at uncovering the evidence we needed. I was also frequently "in the dark" about how my case was proceeding and I often had a hard time getting answers to all of my questions. I began to think my situation was hopeless and that I would never get my children back. I decided to make one final attempt to regain custody but I needed to find the right lawyer. I wanted someone who would make my case a high priority, who would keep me up to date about the details of the case and who would be willing to explain things I didn't understand. Although these may seem like obvious requirements my experience has shown that these qualities are not easy to find -even among the most highly-recommended and expensive attorneys. After interviewing numerous potential candidates, I was refeshingly surprised when I met Ron. He was not only knowledgeable about the law but it was apparent that he treated all of his clients in the way I was hoping to be treated. He also seemed genuinely concerned about the well-being of my children. I did have one initial reservation, however, which was that I thought he looked quite young. I was a bit concerned that he might not have enough experience to handle the complexities of my case or to deal with my ex-husband's more senior attorney (who was successful at getting him sole custody in the first place). Despite this, I decided to hire Ron because, in my view, his strengths far outweighed this one (potential) weakness. (I actually remember thinking that even if I lose the custody case at least I won't have been treated badly by my attorney in the process). That initial meeting with Ron took place more than 3 years ago. I can now say, without a doubt, that hiring Ron to represent me was probably the best decision I have ever made. He really did possess the qualities I was looking for and even surpassed my expectations in ways I could not have anticipated. As soon as I saw Ron in action, my concerns about his youthful appearance quickly disappeared. He worked incredibly hard and left no stone unturned in his attempt to reveal the truth about my childrens' situation. He relentlessly reviewed hundreds of e-mails, personal notes and other documents, and contacted nearly every person he believed might have information relevant to the case. Ron was available whenever I needed him, even at home and on the weekends if something urgent came up. He was always willing to listen to my questions and concerns and to discuss the strategy for the case. He often asked for my input and I felt he valued my opinion. He was very supportive about how difficult this trial was for me but kept pushing me to persevere. Ron was professional and curteous to everyone and worked especially well with the other professionals involved in the case. He helped me prepare for every meeting and interview I had to attend before the trial and accompanied me to most of them ..either to provide expertise or just for moral support if I asked him to. He worked very hard preparing for Court so there were no surprises. In fact, he did such an incredible job that the judge awarded me sole legal and physical custody of my children! Obviously, I was overjoyed at receiving the best possible outcome. But even if things had turned out less favorably, I would not have had regrets about the lawyer I had chosen. I believe that Ron did everything possible to obtain the best outcome. He is by far the best attorney I've worked with and his kindness helped make the whole process more bearable.
