Biography
I practice property and casualty insurance law. That means I deal with legal issues about insurance for things like cars, homes, businesses, professional malpractice, cyber insurance, that sort of thing. (One of the only major areas of insurance I do not do is health insurance. That's a whole other ballgame.) I represent insurance companies and insureds (people with insurance). My practice is split about sixty percent insurer and forty percent insured. I hope that my experience working in-house for major insurers, as a CPCU, and as a trial lawyer and small business owner help me provide better representation to my clients.
Most of my practice is coverage litigation --fighting over whether an insurance policy covers a loss. I also do bad faith litigation --fighting over whether an insurance company denied a claim in bad faith. And I do malpractice litigation --fighting over whether an insurance agent negligently failed to set up the insurance policy right.
I am also a trial lawyer. I try cases to verdicts. I've been doing it since the 80's.
I am also a mediator. I work for several local circuit courts to help mediate cases so they do not get to trial.
I have also served as an expert witness in litigation about insurance bad faith for both insurers and insureds.
