Big business has infected the American public with a belief that everyone with a personal injury lawsuit is a malingerer, a faker, an exagerator and trying to game the system. Big business has done this for one reason - it benefits big business.
As a personal injury and workers' compensation lawyer, I can tell you that the vast majority of those with personal injury lawsuits or workers' compensation claims are not only not faking it, but work incredibly hard to tough it out through their pain. Worse still, most injured people do not get the compensation they desevre for their injuries. In the court system, it's because "tort reform" has infected even the supposedly unbiased judiciary. In the workers' compensation system, injured workers do not get sufficient compensation because the "grand bargain" that is workers' comp continues to move to the favor of corporate America.
