J Allan Cohen

J. Allan Cohen has been practicing law in Maryland for 50 years.

A 1961 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, he was Admitted to practice in Maryland in 1962. Mr. Cohen is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Mr. Cohen is proud to say that throughout his entire legal career he has maintained his office solely in Baltimore City.

Prior to becoming a sole general practitioner in 1987 at the Law Offices of J. ALLAN COHEN, P.A., he was a partner in the general practice law firm of Friedman, Glorioso, Cohen and MacFadyen, P.A. In 2002, after several years of practicing with Adam Sean Cohen (his son), he changed the firm name to THE COHEN LAW FIRM, A Professional Corporation, and, made Adam a partner. They continue to operate a general practice.

In 2002, he was invited to become a fellow in the highly selective ranks of the Maryland Bar Foundation and in 2003 he was again honored and invited to become a fellow of the Baltimore Bar Foundation. He has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland State Bar Association.

Mr. Cohen has previously served as a member-at-large of the Executive Committee of the Baltimore City Bar Association. He has also served on the Executive Committee. He is the former co-chair of the Baltimore City Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service as well as former Chair of the Lawyer Counseling Committee and has additionally served as a member on the following committees: Judicial Selection; Judicial Administration; and Partnership in Education. He also honors those members of the Baltimore City Bar Association who have passed away by participating in the Memorial Minute Program which is held each year and which is a very poignant program.

Mr. Cohen has also been a member for many years on the Attorney Grievance Commission Inquiry Panel and presently serves on its Peer Review Panel.
