I offer Todd my highest recommendation to any prospective client with the good sense to retain him

I can't speak highly enough about Todd Mohink! I had never sought legal counsel before but as a fellow member of the bar, I understand that there are lot of variables that should be considered when retaining an attorney (experience in relevant practice areas, cost, reputation, etc.). A fellow colleag...ue strongly recommended Todd, and after meeting with him I knew I wanted him to represent me. Todd not only has a strong grasp on family law and is current with changes in the law, but he has significant experience handling a high volume of domestic matters in various Maryland courts. His rates are reasonable and he is cost-conscious. He will not charge you for legal services unless they are absolutely necessarily, and if there is a more cost-effective way of accomplishing the same result, he will take that route. Also, Todd will go to bat for you. He fought harder for me than I probably would have fought for myself - and it was my own case! He is nobody's Patsy and he will not just roll over in court. At the same time, he is ethical, forthright, and plays by the rules. Moreover, I felt Todd truly cared about my case and gave it the time and attention it deserved. He was compassionate, and patiently listened to me whenever I voiced my concerns. He was careful not to sugarcoat anything and was very direct with me in terms of my options and possible outcomes. I really and truly believe that I couldn't have had a better advocate than Todd. I actually looked forward to calls/emails from Todd because he provided me with a measure of reassurance that I didn't think was possible as a litigant in a high conflict case. Todd didn't just provide me with superb legal representation - he improved the quality of my life and gave me a peace of mind that I would never have had otherwise. I offer my highest recommendation of Todd to any prospective client with the good sense to retain him.

Do not trust the Law Offices of Todd K. Mohink

I strongly recommend against trusting the Law Offices of Todd K. Mohink with any high-stakes family law or custody matters. When I first contacted them, they were incredibly responsive and eager to take my retainer. But once they had my money, the communication dropped off. There was no disagreemen...t or conflict between us to blame. If you are dealing with something as important as the custody of your child, you need an attorney who is communicative, diligent, and prepared. Unfortunately, my experience involved the following: Lack of Preparation: When I hired the firm at $500/hr, I was expressly assured Todd Mohink would personally appear with me at hearings. Instead, Kris Lim appeared for a critical contempt hearing. I received no preparation call, no review of defenses, and no instructions on what financial documents to bring. I was sent into the hearing defenseless, which resulted in serious financial consequences. Abandonment Before a Deadline: Facing a strict 10-day deadline to file exceptions, I called the firm several times for guidance. The only response I received was a promise that they would email me back, but they never did. They provided absolutely no substantive advice. Luckily, I found out about the midnight deadline just in time and filed my own legal exceptions hours before it expired to protect my rights. Improper Withdrawal and Shifting Blame: The very next morning, instead of acknowledging their failure to respond or assist me, the firm (primarily Kris and Todd) characterized my filing of exceptions as something I had been warned not to do. They sent an email highlighting the days on which I had not called, implying that I was expected to contact them daily rather than every other day in order to receive help (?). They immediately moved to withdraw from the case, attempting to reframe their own lack of communication as my failure. In court filings, they portrayed the withdrawal as though I simply did not want legal representation, completely misrepresenting the reality that they had ignored my requests for guidance and then initiated the withdrawal themselves.I attempted to treat the matter as a misunderstanding and move forward so as not to further jeopardize my custody case, but those efforts were unsuccessful. Abandonment at Settlement Conference: Mr. Mohink attended a later settlement conference only because the court had not yet approved his withdrawal. He did not actively assist me and provided no meaningful help at that proceeding. The only thing he did raise which I'm aware of was an inaccurate claim to the magistrate that I had filed pleadings on my own before in this case while he was my attorney. The magistrate checked the docket right in front of us and found absolutely no such filings. Missed Discovery and Refusal to Fix It: I later learned that the firm failed to serve critical discovery documents on my behalf. Because of this missed deadline, the court denied my right to obtain discovery. This placed me at a severe disadvantage because the opposing side successfully served their discovery on time, leaving the case entirely one-sided. Despite this failure, the firm billed me for the discovery work as though it had been successfully completed. I was able to obtain a refund of those fees from the firm’s administrator. Beyond the refund, however, the firm provided zero acknowledgement of this error. Even though the mistake was theirs, they refused to respond in writing or file anything to help me seek an exception from the court. They never apologized, made no attempt to correct the legal mistake, and gave me no communication whatsoever recognizing this severe mishap. When you hire a law firm, you expect them to protect your interests and guide you through the process. I did not receive the representation I expected, and I urge anyone considering this firm to look elsewhere.
