As Chairman of Kramer & Connolly's prominent litigation practice group, Jim Connolly has lead the firm's trial team to numerousvictories in cases involving professional liability, commercial andbusiness disputes, serious personal injury and tort claims. Highly regarded for his ability to master complicated insurance, real estate and fraud cases, Mr. Connolly has traveledthroughout the country to defend numerous professionals, including many title agents, appraisers andabstractors embroiled in multi-million dollar class actions and other complex litigation.
Mr. Connolly's advocacy has taken him to several jurisdiction at the trial and appellate level. In a landmark case involving land use restrictions in theState of Maryland, Mr. Connolly applied his expertise in restrictivecovenants and easements to successfully represent an entireneighborhood to win injunctions on the construction efforts of largeland developers, preserving this victory through two separate rounds ofappeal.
Prior to law school, Mr. Connolly received hisundergraduate education from St. Alphonsus College in Connecticut andearned Master of Divinity and Master of Religious Education degreesfrom Mount St. Alphonsus Seminary in New York. At the University ofMaryland School of Law, Mr. Connolly served as Associate Editor of the Maryland Law Review,excelled in the school's clinical law program and completed afellowship with the United States District Court for the District ofMaryland.
After receiving his Juris Doctor degree, Mr. Connollyserved as litigation counsel in the Office of the Attorney General ofMaryland, participating in class action lawsuits on behalf of theDepartment of Health and Mental Hygiene. Thereafter, Mr. Connollyrepresented nonprofit organizations as an attorney with the CommunityLaw Center in Baltimore, where he litigated numerous actions forinjunctive relief and administrative remedies. Mr. Connolly is amember of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars, the bar of theUnited States District Court for the District of Maryland and of theUnited States District Court for the District of Columbia.
An Ellicott City resident, Mr. Connolly actively assists community organizations, non-profits and citizens groups on housing, real estate, and consumer matters in Howard County.
