Kwaku D. Ofori, Esq., received his Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law in May 1997. Prior to earning his JD, he received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree in Finance, Magna Cum Laude from Southeastern University, Washington, D.C. in August 1986. He received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Finance from Slippery Rock University, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania in August 1983.
Mr. Ofori was admitted to practice law in Maryland and New Jersey in June, 2004 and the District of Columbia in February, 2007. Attorney Ofori is a member of numerous Bar Associations including the American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Maryland State Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, Montgomery County Bar Association, the Prince George’s County Bar Association and the American Inns of Court, Montgomery County.
In October of 2005, Ofori Law Firm, LLC was opened as a solo law firm with areas of practice in real estate settlements, civil and commercial litigation, landlord and tenant law, business and corporate and personal injury practice. The firm also practices litigation in the District and Circuit Courts of Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, Maryland. Prior to the opening of Ofori Law Firm, LLC. Attorney Ofori was the managing attorney at Fountainhead Title Group (FTG) in the Greenbelt, Maryland Branch between June 2003 and September 2005. He conducted both residential and commercial real estate settlements/closings for properties located in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Additionally, he marketed FTG services to real estate agents, brokers, mortgage loan officers and brokers and financial institutions in the mortgage and real estate industry.
After law school, Ofori worked as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Board of Contract of Appeals (HUDBCA) in Washington, D.C. from August, 1997 to July, 1998. As a law clerk, Ofori drafted decisions and orders for three administrative judges on government contracts, real estate litigation, IRS tax offsets, suspensions and debarments, conducted legal research of statues, regulations, state and federal laws, legal writing and analysis, resolution of complex legal problems and issues, assisted in preparation of hearings before the Board.
Ofori began his real estate law and title insurance career first as a real estate agent with Long and Foster Realtors in the Kensington, Maryland branch in 1986. He later worked in different areas within the real estate industry as a title examiner with then Golden Feather Realty Services, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland; as a Title Insurance Underwriter with Mid-States Title Insurance Company, Inc. in 1999 in Fairfax, Virginia and as a Closer at Associates Relocation Management Company, Inc. in Washington, DC. From 1989 to 1994.
In addition to practicing law, Ofori is also a licensed real estate broker in Maryland. He has also served as a volunteer Commissioner with the Landlord/Tenant Affairs Commission in Montgomery County, Maryland.
