Tammy Begun

I’m not sure exactly who are writing these reviews, but I found Ms. Begun to be the opposite of a great attorney. Prompt she was not. Listening to details was problematic and to pay that much money, I would’ve loved for her to pay enough attention so facts were entered in correctly and time wasn’t wa...sted. Her staff was quite friendly which justifies the one star. She was brash, but it seemed like she was simply overwhelmed and couldn’t give any one case her all or maybe she just didn’t care to. I had documented concerns for my children’s safety and she treated them like a factual nuisance. I ultimately decided on another attorney and it was a world of difference. I’m very happy I made the bold decision to go with my gut because after you invest so much money, it’s a bitter pill to have to look elsewhere. I chose Ms. Begun because she has many years of experience, but piloting hours meant nothing if you’re going in the wrong direction. I would not recommend her.

Tammy is very professional, honest direct. Consulting with her was a very valuable decision for me and I thank her for time and effort counseling me. As a father though in a very non-standard situation I felt substantial but incomplete compassion for the intricacies of my particular situation as a ...dad who loves his kids while still working to find his way to better income, and for a few minutes I felt I was talking to a judge rather than an advocate. Perhaps this is the approach of some lawyers to keep their potential client "in check"? Couples of things were remarkable to me 1) the sentiment that time with kids benefits the parents. It actually does, but I was under the impression that legal professionals pretend to be blind to this fact in order to bring a laser sharp focus to the "best interest of the child." 2) I take issue with laymen as well as judges and lawyers judging a child support amount as "low or high" based solely on the number, when a correct judgement is only arrived at by considering incomes, overnights and several other important factors. It is frustrating that many people are quick to say a payment of $250 per month for 1 child for example is "low," without asking how much each parent makes or what the custody situation is. Also the comment appears not only blind but insulting to the fact that support payment is usually the MINOR PART of only the monetary component of that parent's support. Lawyers and judges should make it routine to publicly acknowledge this. This says nothing of course of the nonmonetary less tangible aspects of parental support of both parents. My wish is that lawyers and our society will come to this broader understanding and expression of what is really involved in being a noncustodial parent.
