also known as Jeffrey W Stickle
Jeff is a member of the Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury practice groups. Jeff’s workers compensation practice focuses on recognizing that workers compensation is not “win/lose,” but more of a collaborative effort between the sides. Consequently, he is able to comfortably represent claimants, employers, and insurers. He primarily represents police officers, firefighters, and other public safety officials, putting to use his expertise in occupational disease presumptions, offsets, and other government-specific issues. Jeff has tried countless thousands of cases before the Maryland Workers Compensation Commission and served as the co-chair of the Workers Compensation Section of the BAMC for 10 years. Jeff has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of his injuried clients, most recently recovering over $950,000 plus lifetime medical benefits for a paralyzed construction contractor; he has also negotiated settlements in numerous other cases, including over $700,000 for a volunteer firefighter with career-ending heart disease, $250,000 for firefighter with kidney cancer, and over $375,000 for a mechanic with a career-ending shoulder injury. He's also handled dozens of jury trials to completion, including a $300,000+ permenancy award for an injured police officer and reversal of a denial of heart disease benefits to a desperately ill firefighter.
Jeff’s Personal Injury practice group handles civil litigation, workers' compensation, personal injury, insurance defense, and construction litigation. Jeff is a strong advocate for his clients, which have included individuals, governments, small businesses, insurance companies, and institutional and commercial clients, giving him experience from all angles. These cases have included jury and bench trials, administrative hearings, and arbitrations in the State and Federal courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia. Jeff is a member of several professional associations, is active in the bar associations for the jurisdictions in which he is licensed, and is committed to public service. He is also a qualified mediator and frequently volunteers for the Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County (CRCMC).
Jeff was born in Poughkeepsie, NY. He attended Binghamton University and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1999. While at Binghamton, Jeff was an EMT for Harpur’s Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Service. Jeff received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2002.
After graduating from law school, Jeff served as a law clerk to the Hon. Marvin S. Kaminetz, Circuit Court for St. Mary’s County. He then worked as an associate for McCarthy Wilson from 2004-2011, and returned in 2019.
He currently resides in Gaithersburg with his wife and two children.
