Divorce

I had never experienced divorce before, did not know what to expect and was relying on Jennifer to guide me through the process. The filing of paperwork was great but the legal guidance was lousy. She did not ask my witness the right questions. She just asked her if “there was anything she wanted to ...say”. Not familiar with what issues or questions that were important my witness didn’t give the right information that would have supported my case. Also, in a joint meeting with the defense attorney Jennifer gave out advice that cost me almost a thousand dollars and helped the defense’s client. After seeing other attorneys perform their job in court I would never hire her for any reason again.

Oversaw Complaint Divorce

My representation was not as adequate or thorough as the lawyer for the defendant. Since working with Jennifer I've seen how lawyers pled cases, the language they use, how they present the evidence. As my lawyer I expect her know what kind of questions that should be asked. She failed to provide suff...icient guidance to my witness as far as questions to be asked that would reveal information that prove my case. She did not adequately challenge what the dependant said on followup nor challenge with followup questions. On appeal she helped the defendant by giving his attorney advice that helped his client. On appeal she was present in the courtroom but said nothing. She left my defense to an attorney I did not choose and his performance was a joke. I knew I had lost my case by the reaction of the three judges. I felt I paid her to just file court papers because the representation was totally insufficient and inadequate. We did not have a pre-appeal meeting to jointly prepare for the appeal court date which I asked for and was told we would talk before the court session. She arrived late and I did not like her approach to presenting my case but it was to late to change approach. I lost my case. Now that I have seen how good lawyers perform, I regret hiring Jennifer and would not recommend her to anyone else.

Attorney Review

When I met Jennifer in 2009 it was under fairly extreme circumstances. My husband had intentionally abandoned me and, with the assistance of my former in-laws, he took my child and everything of value from our home only weeks after I got a job. I came home to a mostly empty house and a note on the ...counter. Not only had he transferred everyone (and everything) into another home, all three individuals left the state with my (at the time) infant in tow. The situation did not allow a great amount of time for response, and I didn't know how to react because I had never been exposed to that type of radical, malicious behavior. I had no where to turn and no one that would help. I had separated from the military to have my child. Though we lived on a military installation, the military would not provide any assistance because he was still serving. I was told our case was to be dealt with via private sector. To make matters worse 911 would not respond because we lived on base. They informed me that the base was not their jurisdiction. My spouse had also come between my family members and I. They believed he was a good man, so I was in a catch 22. After calling every local authority/agency for several days while trying to retain composure at my new job, I found Jennifer by the grace of G-d through a women's help hotline. I wasn't able to eat or sleep and was in terrible condition when we met. We took things one day at a time though and fought through the most strenuous of circumstances. Over the years, my ex and his parents have made attempts at every turn to degrade my character and ruin my integrity in an effort to remove my child from my care. And each time, Jennifer has given sound advice on how to react to their antagonistic mannerisms. She listened when I was full of anxiety, empathized when I was fearful, and she was my rock when, many times, no one else was willing and/or able to offer solid support. Jennifer and I have worked together since 2009 and from day one she has been genuine and supportive. Without her expertise and willingness to act quickly my former spouse would have succeeded in taking my child and disappearing to another state for more than just a short amount of time. In the past 6+ years we have learned many lessons together about the legal system, peoples' character (or lack thereof), the military and Federal government, support systems and what to do when they fail, as well as how we both respond to excessive amounts of stress. I believe in Jennifer so much that, even though my child and I moved to a neighboring state years ago to be close to work, I still travel back to Maryland to do court procedures. My case will be in the legal system for the foreseeable future and the only thing I know for certain is the fact that I do not want anyone else by my side. Jennifer has proven herself to be fair, to play by the rules (especially when the opposing party vehemently chooses not to follow a moral high ground), and she has time after time shown she is loyal and caring, and if that isn't great customer service in a field as difficult as the legal system, I don't know what is.

Jennifer Muskus is flat out an awesome attorney.

Ms. Muskus is an excellent attorney. She is extremely insightful, knowledgeable and very thorough in all aspects of our interactions, and in helping me to make the best decisions for my situation. I would highly recommend Jennifer to anyone in need of an attorney who really knows the law, and... how to best navigate the legal system. She is very focused, honing in on what exactly the situation requires, and is quite adept at making certain she has explained all options in detail, and following up to make sure everything is understood. She has a warm and very caring personality, and is a great people person. I highly recommend her, without any reservation or hesitation. Joseph B
