Jeremy Widder is a criminal defense attorney serving Southern Maryland, including Charles County, Prince George's County, Calvert County, and St. Mary's County. With over 16 years of legal experience, he brings a unique perspective to every case — having spent nearly a decade as an Assistant State's Attorney in Charles County before transitioning to private defense practice.
Jeremy earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where he received the prestigious Greenfield Trial Practice Award. He graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. prior to law school. His trial advocacy skills have been recognized nationally, including an Outstanding Attorney Award from the ABA National Criminal Justice Competition and being named to the Criminal Law Power List by The Daily Record.
As a Partner at SoMD Criminal Defense, Jeremy handles a wide range of criminal matters, including DUI/DWI defense, drug offenses, assault charges, theft crimes, traffic violations, domestic violence cases, firearms offenses, and felony charges. His background as a former prosecutor gives him critical insight into how the State builds its cases, allowing him to craft stronger defense strategies for his clients.
Jeremy is deeply involved in the Maryland legal community. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys' Association, is Vice Chair of the Charles County Criminal Justice Committee, and is a Former President of the Charles County Bar Association. He is also a Barrister with the American Inns of Court and serves on the Peer Review Committee of the Attorney Grievance Commission.
Beyond his legal practice, Jeremy is passionate about mentoring the next generation of advocates. He served as a Mock Trial Coach at American University Washington College of Law for seven years and continues to coach the La Plata High School mock trial team. He is also a frequent speaker at national trial advocacy conferences.

Wonderful Lawyer!!
Jeremy explained the legal process to me. He was always quick to respond and call me back personally. He will be my first call the next time I need a lawyer and I would highly recommend him.
