Provided sound advice/support in a difficult situation!
After my husband was "let go," for bogus reasons, Jim helped us sort through the mire of Virginia's "At Will" issues and make the best decision possible for our situation. He helped us find a balanced position when we were still reeling and unsteady from losing my mother 2 weeks before. When the question arose regarding possible denial of unemployment compensation, he once again came to our aid, and de-mystified the process...and provided excellent counsel. He is very approachable, kind hearted, and understanding. I so very much appreciate all that he did for us and highly recommend him.

Peace of Mind!
That is exactly what he gave me - peace of mind and resolution to a very traumatic situation I was in. I was impressed with his demeanor, knowledge, patience, professionalism and take charge approach. He constantly kept me informed and updated through out the process and went above and beyond what was necessary. I am grateful my Son found him to represent me.

The best ever!
Jim has always exhibited a high degree of professionalism in every contact I have had with him. If something is out of his area of expertise, his referrals have been of the highest level of expertise. I can't think or consider seeking legal counsel from anyone else.

Excellent Response in a tight situation
I had recently employed Mr. allen as legal counsel in a rather time-sensitive and high-impact personal legal matter. My personal understanding of the legal implications was cloudy, at best. Mr. Allen took complete control of the situation, outlined all of the immediate options available to me, as well as the possible outcomes of each decision. He assisted with the entire process and ensured that my filings and responses were handled in an extremely compressed time-frame.

The World's Best
Mr. Allen was extremely helpful and generous with his legal knowledge and assistance. He took what I thought was a disaster in my son's life, by untangling fines and charges, both erroneous and real to an understandable level. Everything made sense after his knowledge, counsel, and referral was given to us. His reassuring nature gave us hope and peace knowing we would be in good hands before the judge. After the hearing, he continued to offer his assistance if anything surfaced in the future.

Will Not Stay In Contact With Client
Mr. Allen was hired by my sister and myself in 2015 about a negligence case towards Residence Inn in Springfield, Virginia. After faxing to his office the necessary documents in 2016, I have yet to hear from him about my case. Before contacting Avvo, I called several times, left a message, and he still has yet to contact me as of this date (3/24/2018).

In spite of my repeated requests, James Allen hardly returned my calls or replied to my e-mails on time; never finished writing one letter to the other party during the entire period of his representation; and the other party's lawyer wrote that he did not appreciate James Allen's silence. At first, James failed to realize the other party's legal action was real, not threatening; later, he did not understand why the other party filed two complaints for the same matter; and lacked the expertise and knowledge required to handle my case. He failed to investigate into my lease and the other party's deed of appointment, so failed to identify and use legal bases to defend my company with facts and legal documents. When I complained about his handling of my case, he sent me two settlement agreement forms with his offer to return most of his legal fees paid by me. However, it was too small to compare with the judgment amount in hundreds of thousands dollars imposed against my company.

This client had at least 2 lawyers before me (that I know about) and at least 1 after me (that I know about), and is unhappy with all of them. I fired this client after they inappropriately abused my office staff for not interrupting a Court Hearing to force me to speak with the client instantly. They begged me to continue representing them, but I declined. Their next lawyer came up with a new legal strategy, and they lost at trial - using his strategy, not mine.
