I have to say that Corrie Sirkin truly is a fabulous lawyer! I was struck by her positive attitude, and her ability to see a way forward and find solutions during a very dark and fearful time for myself and my children.Her knowledge of the law is vast- and her ability to explain it to me, and more ...so, apply it,offered great comfort. She really listened to what I needed as a solution, and guided me. Corrie made the 'law' and the 'legal process' less intimidating to me. I felt supported throughout the entire process. In late March 2021, I was totally blindsided by my (then) 5 month old daughters father, who kicked me out of our shared home, and placed a completely fabricated preliminary protective order on me, in my daughters name. He claimed I had tried to murder her. It was all conjecture and perjury, as he lie...d and had nothing to back up any claim on his affidavit. I was left homeless, without money, no job (because I was taking care of an infant 24/7), and I felt so hopeless and emotionally destroyed by JUST the preliminary process, I didn’t know if I would ever fully recover psychologically. I was referred to Corrie by a city council member, whom I believed had my best interest in mind and was leading me to someone who could give me the smallest bit of hope. In my opinion, it was an easy win for any attorney that was well versed in this area of law. I have no criminal record. I’ve never been arrested. I was simply a single mother who needed legal counsel and representation in a non criminal case with zero evidence against me. Corrie was informed of my hearing date and time before I was told she’d be able to do an hour long phone consultation, which cost me $250. At not one point during the call, did I feel like she even cared or was actually listening to me. She even went so far as to tell me that if I lost the protective custody case, which could amount to 2 years no visitation, I would probably also lose custody of my daughter for the rest of the foreseeable future (because that is “usually what happens”). Basically, she was telling me it was hopeless. She had no idea what she was talking about. THEN, she sends me an email that she won’t be able to represent me because she already had another case on the same exact date and time as mine. If she knew she wasn’t available at the time and date that she was made aware of prior to our phone call, why in the world would she even take my money and waste both of our time, while demoralizing me and giving me horrible legal advice? Does she need a few hundred dollars that badly? Taking advantage of someone in their most desperate moments? I felt like I was scammed. The case was continued for another month while I scrambled to find a lawyer and get my life together. Luckily, I know some amazing people. I went from a broke, jobless, homeless, new mother who lost her daughter, to living in an extremely desirable area of Arlington, working within walking distance of my apartment, making $1200 a week, and getting a free consultation with an AMAZING lawyer… all within about 25 days of having my daughter ripped from my life. I should actually be thankful that Corrie didn’t “help” me, because I just represented myself due to lack of time for my attorney to prepare the case in the way he felt most comfortable. We were going to do discovery and appeal. WELP, we didn’t even have to appeal the verdict… because I was able to dismantle my ex’s entire affidavit and his lawyers cross examination, all by myself. I did so well that the judge was constantly stopping the cross examination of my ex, to make him give real answers to my questions, as the judge “was quite curious themselves”. I won. I have full custody of my daughter. No thanks to this person who I think acted very unethically. I even called her after, to get my money back, because she either was so sloppy she didn’t know her own schedule a week out, or she’s just a con artist who needs to kick people when they’re down. She never returned my call. Or my money. And I still want both. A call. And my money.
