I really appreciated working with Emily. My personal path to finalizing my divorce was rather long (years!), and my circumstances were such that I worked with more than one attorney along the way. Thus, I actually have some basis for comparison of attorney styles and approaches. In my own decision-ma...king style I favor gathering data and information - I want to understand my options, the process, and the strategy - but I’m also mindful that this takes time and costs money and I want to be efficient. In Emily I found someone who directly, succinctly, and very clearly answered my questions and provided the information I needed. She explained options and offered her expert opinion in a very straightforward way. I greatly appreciated her style and approach. Communicating with her was extremely easy and she was always very responsive by email, phone, and zoom. My divorce process went the mediation route and it got a bit tense at times with one session extending into the evening. But Emily stayed focused, kept me focused, and she has a sense of humor that helped me stay calm and think clearly. Further, it was clear that Emily was thinking through the angles and running the numbers and thinking strategically. Emily got me through the completion of my divorce, which had been dragging on for a very long time.

Obviously anyone going through a divorce needs a lawyer who is effective at their job, which Emily was, but considering that it's also likely to be an unpleasant experience no matter how amicable, it helps to genuinely like your lawyer, too, and I really liked Emily. She explained things clearly at e...ach step, was open to all of my questions, and was empathetic about the experiences I'd had prior to separation and the nonsense my ex attempted during the divorce. And she made I received what was fair and legally required in a settlement and was not what my ex would have agreed to had I not hired her. A true advocate in all the ways.

I cannot say enough good things about Emily. I worked with her for a almost a year and a half from my first consultation with her, trying to determine whether divorce would be financially sustainable for me, all the way through to the judgment of absolute divorce. I was a complete mess and Emily was ...kind, easy to talk to, patient, and very understanding. She talked me down from the ledge when I felt ready to give up and just take what I was being offered. She stood up for me and fought hard to make sure I got what I deserved, despite nasty opposing council. She tried to keep costs as low as possible and kept us from needing to go to litigation by pushing for mediation. I was extremely happy with her and would highly recommend her as a divorce lawyer.

Divorce is a difficult process, even when it's needed. Emily provided outstanding service, expertise, and strategy throughout. I felt well represented, like I had a fighter on my side, and she stood tall through each step of the process. My personal circumstances (what should have been a simple, ...cut and dry proceeding) were made more complicated and difficult by my ex-spouse and her attorney's obstructionist attitudes. Emily managed those difficulties with superb negotiation, and got the settlement agreement that I needed. Any review would be incomplete without mentioning the personal side of her representation. Emily's empathy, sensitivity, and good humor lessened the pain of the process. She paid special attention to avoiding unnecessary costs as well. Any client would be wise to select Emily Baker.
