Sunil Varghese

I’m the co-founder of Red Knot Law, with offices in Washington, DC and New York. From DC, I primarily handle estate planning matters for clients in DC, Maryland, and New York, while our New York office represents immigration clients nationwide.

Before starting Red Knot Law, I spent more than fifteen years practicing law across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and am admitted in Washington, DC, New York, and Maryland. I’m originally from Texas, but I’ve spent most of the last two decades living in DC and New York.

Immigration law and estate planning both involve families trying to plan ahead, protect the people closest to them, and navigate unfamiliar systems during important moments in their lives. I started Red Knot Law because I wanted to build a practice that felt more personal, practical, and accessible. I try to give clients straightforward advice, communicate clearly, and make the legal process feel less overwhelming. My estate planning work ranges from simple wills and powers of attorney to more customized planning for families with more complicated dynamics, long-term planning goals, and multi-state issues.
