Do not recommend

Spent $10k on a custody modification and ended up with the same exact custody order. Constantly gas lit me saying one thing and then when she was wrong she would say she said another. Likes to talk to herself during legal phone calls with client or other attorneys about your case and charge for time ...she isn’t even talking about your case. Poor hygiene.

Didn't fight for my best interests

I hired Alaina as my divorce attorney in 2019 and by 2021 I was in the same oosition as when I initially retained her counsel. The only difference being - I was 25K+ in the red. It seemed as if Alaina was always threatening to withdraw when I didn't agree w/ her and take her advice Advice that wen...t against what I thought she undersood I had been striving for and what I believed to be an equitable outcome. I was shocked when I received a copy of her withdrawal notice that she had filed w/ the court. I acted against my better judgment and paid to retain her counsel once again. It seemed as if Alaina wished to take the easiest way by expecting me to agree w/ what she was proposing and what she believed to be in my best interest (something I just couldn't do). It seemed as if she wanted me to agree w/ her advice and settle with what the opposing party wanted rather than fighting for what was favorable and fair to me Alaina didn't seem to have any interest in fighting for me. I do not reccomend Alaina Chamberlain as your divorce attorney if you have what you believe and imagine will be a difficult divorce case.

Avoid at all costs

If you looking for a lawyer that is effective and looking out for your best interests look elsewhere. During my divorce she scheduled multiple meetings and sent out letters to my now Ex Husband lawyer. After months of racking up $thousands of dollars of legal bills it took way too long to finalize my... divorce settlement. She's a nice person but incredibly slow in reaching a satisfactory result. Avoid at all costs...

Great person, mediocre lawyer.

Alaina Chamberlain represented me for a mutual consent PFA against my ex-girlfriend and a child custody case regarding our son. I liked Alaina as a person, but Alaina is a mediocre lawyer that is worried about billing you for as many useless services as she can (like subpoenaing police officers for n...o reason), instead of being worried about studying the details of your case to assist in gaining a good outcome. Alaina misguided me regarding a PFA extension, and unfortunately, I found out when it was too late. For my child custody case, we had three days of trial, and each day I could not believe the lack of cross-examination, lack of detail, and lack of organization Alaina exhibited (shuffling around papers in the courtroom trying to look for certain documents for minutes at a time during the trial, walking in with a BOX of disorganized case documents, etc.). When I tried to express my concerns to Alaina during the first day of trial, her response to me was "I'm known for my ability to cross-examine." Alaina was so disorganized and unprepared that even after being handed a document listing the videos that I wanted to play in court and submit for evidence, she played the wrong video - which I believe served as an extreme detriment to my case. Alaina has no type of "fight" in her and she is just simply not a good trial lawyer. My ex-girlfriend went pro se, and despite all of the discovery documents and details regarding my case that Alaina had access to, I can honestly say that my ex-girlfriend spun circles around Alaina. My ex-girlfriend went into the courtroom and painted the picture of a "scorned woman" and Alaina did absolutely nothing to change the narrative, or paint a different picture for the judge to consider. The judge ended up going with the schedule my ex-girlfriend wanted, which was keeping the current schedule the same. Fortunately, the schedule allows me to have a lot more time with my son than my ex-girlfriend does, and also avoids child support. I do believe that if I had hired a better trial lawyer I would have been able to get the visitation schedule I wanted along with final decision-making authority. I essentially paid Alaina $20,000 to receive the exact same schedule I had before I hired her for my child custody case.
