Great person, mediocre lawyer.
Alaina Chamberlain represented me for a mutual consent PFA against my ex-girlfriend and a child custody case regarding our son. I liked Alaina as a person, but Alaina is a mediocre lawyer that is worried about billing you for as many useless services as she can (like subpoenaing police officers for no reason), instead of being worried about studying the details of your case to assist in gaining a good outcome.
Alaina misguided me regarding a PFA extension, and unfortunately, I found out when it was too late. For my child custody case, we had three days of trial, and each day I could not believe the lack of cross-examination, lack of detail, and lack of organization Alaina exhibited (shuffling around papers in the courtroom trying to look for certain documents for minutes at a time during the trial, walking in with a BOX of disorganized case documents, etc.). When I tried to express my concerns to Alaina during the first day of trial, her response to me was "I'm known for my ability to cross-examine." Alaina was so disorganized and unprepared that even after being handed a document listing the videos that I wanted to play in court and submit for evidence, she played the wrong video - which I believe served as an extreme detriment to my case.
Alaina has no type of "fight" in her and she is just simply not a good trial lawyer. My ex-girlfriend went pro se, and despite all of the discovery documents and details regarding my case that Alaina had access to, I can honestly say that my ex-girlfriend spun circles around Alaina. My ex-girlfriend went into the courtroom and painted the picture of a "scorned woman" and Alaina did absolutely nothing to change the narrative, or paint a different picture for the judge to consider. The judge ended up going with the schedule my ex-girlfriend wanted, which was keeping the current schedule the same. Fortunately, the schedule allows me to have a lot more time with my son than my ex-girlfriend does, and also avoids child support. I do believe that if I had hired a better trial lawyer I would have been able to get the visitation schedule I wanted along with final decision-making authority. I essentially paid Alaina $20,000 to receive the exact same schedule I had before I hired her for my child custody case.

Did little for my case
I hired her for the second time for a child custody case and she did very little to help. She let the other parties attorney set the pace and never " faught " back. She barely stayed in contact with me and basically told me to take the easy way out instead of doing her job. She is an overpaid bookkeeper.
