My partner Patrick and I practice primarly in the areas of criminal and DUI defense.  We are trial lawyers.  We handle every type of case, from the most serious felonies down to misdemeanor offenses in the Court of Common Pleas or Alderman's Court 40 in Newark, DE.  Even "minor" cases, such as a DUI, can have a lasting impact on your life, especially when it comes to employment. 

  

Prior to joining Patrick in private practice, I clerked in the Superior Court of Delaware for the Honorable Jan R. Jurden.  Clerking for Judge Jurden provided an excellent foundation before going into private practice.  Working with judges on a daily basis behind the scenes provided invaluable insight.

 

Before I clerked, I graduted cum laude  from Widener University School of Law.  While there, I interned for Judge Jurden (first year), Gene Maurer, and Joe Hurley (second and third years).

DUI
I HAD MADE A BAD DECISION TO HAVE A FEW DRINKS WITH A FRIEND AFTER WORK AND DRIVE HOME. AS I SAID , BAD DECISION , WHICH CAUSED A PENDING DUI CHARGE. I WANTED TO DO WHAT WAS RIGHT, DUE TO THIS UNFORTUNATE SIRCUMSTANCE , SO I DID SOME INTERNET SEARCHING FOR HELP , A GOOD ATTORNEY. I CAME ACROSS COLLINS AND ROOP. WHAT I HAD LEARNED ON THE SEARCH HELPED ME MAKE MY DECISION , WHICH I KNOW NOW, WAS THE BEST. I AM MORE THAN HALFWAY THROUGH THE CONSEQUENCES , BUT IF NOT FOR MR ROOPS KNOWLEDGE AND ADVISEMENT, I KNOW THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT HARDER AND WORSE TO FIX. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I MADE THE BEST DECISION POSSIBLE. COLLINS AND ROOP STAFF WAS ALSO A BIG FACTOR , DUE TO THEIR CARING SUPPORT AS WELL , TOTAL EXPERTISE. I DI NOT PLAN ON GETTING INTO THIS UNFORTUNATE SITUATION , BUT I DO KNOW, I MADE THE BEST DECISION POSSIBLE FOR IT. THAT WOULD BE HIREING A.J. ROOP. IF YOU READ THIS REVIEW , I HOPE YOU MAKE A GOOD DECISION, AND THAT WOULD BE TO HIRE THIS FIRM ( MR ROOP WAS THE BEST ). I CANNOT EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE ENOUGH FOR MY REPRESENTATION. SIMPLY THE BEST !

Prompt, polite and got the job done!
AJ was wonderful to work with! I am so glad that I hired him after he was referred to me by a good friend. He was always very courteous, extremely sensitive to and understanding of my situation, and very prompt in communication and replies. Young & naive
AJ was a total Godsend, when we met I had no ideas what I was getting myself into ! He was very patient with me, even with all my frantic calls asking questions. He exceeded his duties as a lawyer and I'd definitely recommend him to anyone regarding legal issues ! Thank you again !

Legal assistance
I came to AJ during a difficult time of my life. AJ was not only very professional but was also very concerned and understanding about my situation. In my opinion he went far and above the "normal" duties of a lawyer. He has excellent communication and follow up skills, He would even reply to emails on the weekend. I was very fortunate to have AJ as my lawyer.
