April Marie Townsend

April M. Townsend brings more than twelve years of family law experience to clients at Petrelli Previtera, LLC, working from the firm's Annapolis office and serving clients across Maryland. She is admitted to practice in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

April is known for being well prepared, reasonable and thorough, particularly in divorce matters. She looks for every workable route to resolution and is willing to have a real conversation about settlement, but when litigation is what protects a client's interests, she takes the case to court.

One of April's core principles is involving clients in their own legal journey. As she puts it, "When parties play a role in concluding their case, they tend to be more satisfied and spend less." Alongside divorce and custody, she handles estate planning and probate matters, and co-authored NBI's Step-by-Step Guide to Drafting Wills and Trusts in 2021.

April earned her Juris Doctor from the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where she was admitted as a Conwell Law Scholar, and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland, College Park with a double major in Government and Politics and Criminal Justice. She serves as Secretary of the Board of the YWCA and is a member of the Pennsylvania, Bucks County and Montgomery County bar associations.
