I am a dentist and met this attorney as a dental student a few years ago. He came to my school to give a guest lecture on employment contract and partnership agreement. The previous attorney I used for my previous associateship contract missed a lot of important things, so I decided to hire this atto...rney, who seemed knowledgeable. We both agreed the new contract I asked him to review was very one-sided. So, I didn't even bother to modify clauses. Knowing his hourly rate, I asked him how much time he spent on reviewing the contract. He said he would not bill me for that particular contract. I told him I had a few more interviews coming up and anticipated getting more offers and contracts to be reviewed by him. I got such a positive impression of him that I told my dentist friends about him. When something sounds too good to be true, however, it probably is. He sent me an invoice several weeks later. I contacted him to reminded him of the verbal agreement we had, but his response was, "I never said that I would not bill you." Yeah, right. How conveniently he forgot about it! I paid him what I owed him, but I started looking for a different attorney. I have a problem when somebody promises something he/she is unwilling to do and fails to make good on the promise. I am not going to be an angry Yelp reviewer giving someone a 1-star review, but my experience with him could've been better.
