Biography
Attorney Smith is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) with the National Elder Law Foundation. The CELA certification is considered to be the gold standard for elder law and special needs practitioners. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and Virginia. She works in various aspects of Elder Law including Long-Term Care planning, Medicaid planning, Guardianships, Veterans benefits, Special needs planning, Tax planning, and Estate administration.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Messiah College in May 2011 and her law degree from West Virginia University College of Law in May 2014. While at West Virginia University, she served as a Student Attorney with the West Virginia Innocence Project where she worked on investigating cases of prisoner’s potential innocence as well as working on several legislative initiatives. She was a member of the Lugar Trial Association and competed in several national trial competitions. Attorney Smith also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for several Common Pleas Court Judges.
She is a member of the Pennsylvania and Virginia Bar Associations, the Lycoming County Bar Association, The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys ("NAELA"), The Pennsylvania Association of Elder Law Attorneys ("PAELA"), The Academy of Special Needs Planners, and is an accredited attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
